This year is actually a one year extension he signed back in '23 when it was already clear he was underpaid. The time to dig in would have been then. Now, he's in the unfortunate position of trying to get top dollar at 30, which is difficult.
I respect the hell out of Trey, but it's a salary cap league. If you have an elite player who will grouse and grumble about his contract, but report to TC and give 110% after settling for less money, 32 out of 32 teams are going to roll with that.
