But looks in line with bloodborne mechanics
heres everything that was aannounced
Preorders start 4/9 for 450$ usd and arrive 6/5/25
Screen looks to be 1440p 120 hz
It was telling that Nintendo didn't cite the price points during the direct. Apparently $450 for the system. Games $70 or $80 for digital/physical. Which is kind of bananas.
Maybe they just wanted to avoid a XBox One / PS5 Pro price reveal moment. Maybe it changes. But those prices are...yeesh.

I apologize for being “that guy”….
I bought Bases Loaded 2 on the NES for 39.99 back in 1992. The price stuck with me cause I charged 1 dollar a lawn on base and when I cut 40 lawns and went to the store my dad (drill sergeant at the time) gave me a hard time for not factoring in tax.
Anyways, according to chatgpt, that game would be 79.58 today, so it seems relatively fair I think.

i will be buying this round of nintendo per usual, even though president trying to make it harder. betting ps5/xsx games get high too, they hit $70 games "first". Hell xbox has a lot of $130 games (pre orders/etc).

zelda + mario > all
I gave up on the Mario games after Sunshine.
To me Double-Dash was the ultimate Kart game, and they've gone downhill since.
According to my daughter Mario party is still fun.
Didn't like the latest golf. It used to be golf with some kooky mechanics, but now its about nothing but the weird mechanics so it might as well not be golf.
Zelda continues to completely blow away my expectations.
Stil waiting for the DQ8 port to complete my life.

I liked mario golf on gamecube the most, mario golf on n64 was also fun. Something is missing from the latest golf, it's fun, but not the same.
I'm playing PGA 2k25 on XSX and that is insanely difficult, at least on higher difficulty. I kind of like that.

loos like they might charge 90 for some physical copies. I only saw 70-80 for first party games. xbox has a ton of "add-on/ultimate" games pushing 120-130. they created the market, for the longest time Nintendo was $10 less than others. No matter IMO since their 1st party games are at least as good.
ocarina of time was $60 in 1998 which is $100 now, it's just system shock I guess. i bet gta6 is $99 base.

And that game came complete, with no Day-1 patches needed, no online-connectivity needed. You could also loan it to friends and when you got tired of it you could sell it to put it on the used market. Or you could wait and buy it on the used market for a heavily discounted amount.
The physical manufacturing process was also much more expensive, the global shipping process was much more expensive, they relied on physical brick-and-mortar stores to sell the games because digital games (where they just have to copy files endlessly for free) didn't exist.
The market sized was also fractional so they needed to make their money from a smaller amount of large sales rather than modern times where you can make a ton of medium sized sales and still come out ahead. Tetris is the best selling NES game that was never bundled with the console at 8m sales in his lifetime. Mario Kart Deluxe 8 sold 67.35m copies on the Switch.
Nintendo is NOT getting hurt by inflation. This is just them seeing a record amount of profit roll in and thinking "hey, I bet people would give us even MORE money".

Side note, were you paying for the gas in 1992 when you mowed lawns? Because it looks like the national average gas price in 1992 was $1.13 per gallon. So cutting lawns at $1 per lawn seems like if you were you were either making just a couple pennies per lawn in profit, or you were losing money, depending on the lawn size and your mower's gallons per acre.

Unfortunately I will, I'm sure it will go on sale someday later. I can't see it going for under 99 at launch since apparently, it's 2 billion to produce. Maybe $89 base with all the addons being $169.

I'll buy it on Steam 2-3 years later with all the bug patches already released, the DLC included, on sale for like $30-40.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is on sale on Steam for $15 right now.

I don't do that with big games, to me that's like waiting for Zelda to go on sale (for one, it basically doesn't and two I don't play that many games that I want to wait 3 years to pay less to play the only game I may play that year lol).
