I say they should replay the game like in the Best of Times with Kurt Russell.  Get Boomer his ring and give the fans some peace.   ThumbsUp [Image: The-Best-of-Times_movie-still.jpg?w=660&ssl=1]

But I do seem to recall you claiming that Jay Gruden should never have been hired as an OC.

Hindsight is 20/20.

I don't recall saying that.  I will admit I was skeptical following an OC as tenured and outdated as Brat with a guy from a fake football league was a slam dunk.

Either way, I was pro Hue and anti Zampese.  I didn't buy into the feel good narrative that our playbook would get better and less "cute"

30 years ago there were still rotary phones and black and white TV's. That puts it into perspective.

Techmo Super Bowl was released in 1991
Minesweeper was released in 1989

Just a little perspective on how far video game technology has come since the Bengals won a playoff game and went to the Super Bowl.

I was still using a Commodore 64 in 1989.

:-(

And, pardon me for complaining, but I came in second in our fantasy football league that season (FF was still new back then, BTW) because freaking Bob took Boomer!!!

Ya but he never should have been brought back for the 2nd season. Between the O-line and the OC the Bengals threw away a year, a year Dalton, AJ, Geno, and so on can never get back.

I got this cutting-edge game and system almost a month before the Bengals' last SB appearance.

I was totally playing Super Mario Bros. on a 13" black and white TV right before the Bengals vs 49ers SB was put on our gigantic 20-some inch color TV in the living room.  Dear lord!

Non-Bengals Fan:  You mean that guy who never should have been an OC in the first place?
ME:  Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it.

ME:  Hey, the Bengals are building their o-line!
Non-Bengals Fan:  Shouldn't they have done that like 2 years ago?
ME:  Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it.

FAST FORWARD TO THE YEAR 20XX
ME:  Hey, the Bengals fired Marvin Lewis!
Non-Bengals Fan:  Shouldn't they have done that like 42 years ago?
ME:  Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it.

My optimism is subject to change at any moment of season. lol

Really liked all the off season moves made though and feel there may be another still to come.

But we still will be stuck with Marvin. Who is really a pretty solid coach if you do not count his pitiful clock management  and his foolish efforts to sit on a lead way too early in game.

Drives me crazy but maybe one of these new coaches will be able to persuade Marv to do right things.

My computer ran Microsoft DOS. I think it had a hard drive of 20MB and about 4MB RAM. Those are megabytes, not gigabytes. I played Pacman, Caterpillar, and Golf on it. Oh yea, it had the 5 1/4" floppy drive. Brings back memories.

Wasn't it windows 3.1 or something like that?

I’m pretty confident the first time Marvin suggests easing off the throttle early will bring strong feedback from the rest of the coaches. Or at least I hope.
