And let's not forget all the injury issues with Tyler Eifert (2013) and Darqueze Dennard (2014). They should take a page out of the Patriots' playbook and start trading down into the second round. That stat is astounding.
Everything in this post is my fault.

At some point the "bad luck" becomes bad scouting, bad medical, and bad development. Flukes that happen nonstop aren't flukes. They're a pattern.
Seriously, how could the injuries to Jackson, Price, now Williams could have been the result of bad scouting, medical, or development? None of their injuries could have been predicted. Football is a violent sport and injuries happen. Not all of them could be anticipated

And our '14 first round pick, Dennard, played fewer than 250 defensive snaps over his first two seasons COMBINED.

And of course, our 2013 draft pick was Eifert who gave us great hope in his rookie year and then......

Price was hurt when he was drafted. He partially tore his pec at the scouting combine. How can that not be predicted? Ogbuehi was already hurt when he was drafted as well. Those are both flaws in drafting approach.
Jackson and Williams both got hurt before football games or contact was even happening. If it was contact drills, or preseason games, or regular season games, sure. Football is violent sport. How they hell are they tearing these muscles in helmets and shorts? Once is bad luck, twice and more is either a bad stretching routine, bad trainers, poor conditioning, something.
There are 0 other teams who have gotten basically nothing positive from their 1st round picks rookie seasons the last SIX years. That's not bad luck, that's just being bad at running a football team.

All but guarantees that when Williams sucks in 2020, people will pull out the "he was hurt his rookie year, he's basically a rookie" classic.
Shame that injuries ruined the 2019 season. But man, just wait until 2020. They'll let some people go in FA, get some sweet compensatory picks, all the people hurt each of the last four years will magically all be healthy, and will be surefire shots to win the SB.

Look forward to some sweet Hobspin articles about how Hart has really turned it around. Probably through MMA... or interpretive dance. Then there will be threads made about how they sure were glad Hart was around, as if he wasn't cut by the Giants for being terrible, and then terrible for the Bengals.
Wake me up when it's no longer Groundhog Day.
HTF is a torn labrum bad scouting or bad coaching?
Its a freak accident that occurs from doing too much of the same thing (IE; throwing a baseball).
Thankfully, this surgery is an almost 100% success rate for baseball players, thus I'm not worried for the long term.

Another great draft pick! Just like that the o-line just took a significant downgrade. Probably yet another lost season. Wooooo!!!!!

Price missed no games with his torn pec. He sprained his ankle when it was stepped on during a game. It doesn't take much contact to tear a labrum or a pec muscle if you are hit in the right (wrong) spot or fall awkwardly.
You still haven't provided any reason these injuries could have been prevented.

Shoulder injuries for offensive linemen are extremely concerning to me. Ended Tony Boselli’s HOF career. They have to absorb the full force of a 300lb monster moving at full force, over and over and over again. Next to a knee or back injury, shoulder is the most concerning injury to a lineman, imo.

In the long run still a good pick.... So now Glenn back to LT and we already got an extra OG if boiling isn't ready to start the season...
Just an Extra boost to us next year when hes back. we should be able to make due this season with what we have.

And Jackson did not have to miss the whole year, he could have been brought back and received some solid game snaps but the idiot Merv brought Peerman back to the roster instead.

Now we know not to trust Taylor's comments on injuries too!
But, on the bright side...if the season goes south we can use this injury as an excuse!

In other news the Bengals announce first ever time machine that moves all 1st round picks back a year to be injured twice. Once the season before drafted and then the year drafted. In the event of a failure of said time machine all rookies will now practice on I-75 during heavy thunderstorms in rush hour traffic. Hench the new team motto, "Go play in traffic" ..
