Gio versus Fournette closer than Mixon to him
Player A: 600 yards from scrimmage, 6 TDs on 133 touches
Player B: 771 yards from scrimmage, 6 TDs on 171 touches
Player A is Fournette, who was almost half the cost of Bernard (player B).
It's also worth noting Fournette had 1674 yards from scrimmage in 2019. Bernard is overpaid.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

I won't argue that Gio is not overpaid, but Fournette is an outlier. He missed half of his final year in college with injury and has never once played a full season in the NFL. That is why he can only get cheap contracts.

Gio is a really good pass protector, but Mixon isn't really bad.

This is why it makes it look like he's still involved. Ineptitude of the front office to fix issues that need taken care of urgently.
Could be that Duke and Zac both think there's plenty of talent on the OL and we dont need anymore additions.
Neither one are going to answer that question so it's only a guess.
They have 2 good, starting quality tackles, Hopkins is on track to be back early, they have at least 2 serviceable guards and it's highly likely they will get a potentially good guard in rd2 of the draft, if they don't take Sewell at #5OA.
They're not desperate for Oline atm, like they were in the middle of last year.

Five year $48.8 million. Less than $10 million per year.
So...you're saying he's not grossly overpaid?
I bet that was tough to find...

Give it time... The first days of OTAs and training camp aren't upon us yet.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

Yeah, it's "everything Marvin is bad" in the minds of the Bengals front office and its massively underachieving coaching staff. Sadly, however, "everything Marvin" did win a lot games.

I’d trade gio if the price was right. Probably like a 4 or 5 or something

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

See this is why I think the report of "multiple teams" calling for Gio is false or at the very least embellished.
Who would want to overpay for Gio's services?
Is this a ploy to convey his salary value to the general public/fans... by claiming that not just one team wants him but multiple teams do?
The flip side is if these so called multiple teams offered next to nothing for him they might be able to restructure his contract with some leverage.

Agree!!! How the hell are we paying our rb position so much money. Have a good oline and most backs can run through holes at the nfl level. I understand Gio is good at pass pro but you dont pay a rb 4 mill to block no matter how good he is at it. He is also getting older so dont hang on till you cant get anything for him.

Because the guy is worth it, he earned that contract by being an excellent personal protector for the QB and is 9th on the team's All Time Receiving list.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Gio is reliable, stays healthy and probably helps keep the locker room in tact. I see him be a part of the Bengals past his career in some capacity.
Gio is a keeper.

Same, the Bengals pay a lot for RBs and aren't getting much value.

Exactly, GB brings value as a change-of-pace runner, receiver and pass protector.
What frustrates me is the FO complete lack of foresight. Do what every other team does: sign him to an extension and bring his cap number down. He’s worth it.

I like Gio. I know what he brings personality-wise as a Bengals fan.
However in the whole NFL does that make his salary that high?
Personally I hope they keep him and hopefully can restructure a bit.
I just have a hard time buying that multiple teams value Gio at his current salary.

Not that I disagree with your post, but it's interesting to note that Fournette just signed for 1yr/$4m, compared to the 1yr/$4.1m that Gio will be making this year. Almost dead on.
