Heading to UC

The Bengals will practice the rest of this week at the indoor facility at UC. Ice and snow do not lead to a productive practice especially when the next game is in warm weather. This is the first time in Zac's coaching tenure they have used the indoor option

It's kind of sad when a High School team like Massillon (Whose football field bears the Paul Brown name), has an indoor practice facility, but a professional sports organization can't seem to get one built.

If only they had access to one to use if they really needed it...

Obviously UC doesn't mind sharing with them ($$$), and obviously the coaching staff thinks its an advantage to practice in the elements you play in.  While I do think they should probably have an on-site facility, its not like the need has gone totally ignored.  There is a solution in place and they use it when needed.  Not the end of the world.

According to Troy Blackburn, money isn't the issue. However, since this will come out of Brown's pocket, money might be a consideration.  Mr Brown wants to keep all of the Bengals facilities together...downtown.  Therefore the only place available to build an indoor practice facility is the Bengals practice field.  But, that location can't be built on.  Not only are they dealing with the highway and other roads but apparently a large number of buried utility lines underneath the lot with no place to move them.

Maybe when Mr. Brown dies, Katie and Troy will consider the suburbs or NKY as a location for building

Pitt and the Steelers share the same facilities completely.
Likely in order for them to save $$.

If the Bengals pay UC to use their indoor facility, it's a good cost-savings for both sides.

Now just build a new stadium with a roof when it's time to move on from PBS and you're getting your indoor practice facility built in

I played hockey near King's Island back in high school that was technically outdoors but had a covering over the rink, allowing us to play when it rained/stormed. It was still cold AF though in the winter.

Not sure if something like that would work though for the Bengals since you'd have to make it tall enough for the ball not to hit the top when passing or kicking.

...and I remember when the access used to a indoor soccer field in Monroe. The need has gone totally ignored by the Cincinnati Bengals.

So weird, it's almost like it never really mattered to our success but rather was used as an excuse for why we failed. Even the FA argument, it hasn't seemed to hurt us recently when we became attractive because of the new staff/QB/culture.

UC in the process of gathering funds to build a $100 million indoor facility that includes a new field and student housing. The University's Board of Trustees approved $7 million in opening funds for the project in December. I wonder if it would make more sense and be more economical for the Bengals to contribute to the funding in return to use the new facility for the few times that they do, instead of building one of their own?

It’s like 3 miles from the stadium. If there is an agreement in place, then this is honestly a moot point as the bengals have a location to practice free from the elements.

Would it be nice to have a bubble… sure. But considering this is the first year that the bengals have played more than 2 games in January, This is like beating a dead horse. If the SB was in NY, like it was a handful of years ago, the bengals would have the advantage of the elements.

I’m glad they are utilizing the indoor facilities they have access to if for no other reason it could possibly reduce the chance of injury when the footing could be bad on outdoor surfaces during the winter.

I can't speak about Kevin Huber but Evan McPherson was asked about rain or snow kicking.  He said rain was gross and snow was fun

Take a look at Super Bowl winners. They are not heavily represented by teams playing in a dome

The Bengals just upgraded the important part which was the weight room rehab facilities and the classrooms.

Asked why that's important by a dumb reporter, Taylor said, "Because we're playing indoors."

The silliest argument I've ever heard against an indoor facility is that "we need to practice in the elements". We need to have the choice of choosing the element in which we prepare.I do hope if we ever build one dedicated to the team that we equip it with door, so if we want to go outside we can.
