They ran a toss sweep 7 yards they ran the same play twice against the Bills stuffed for a loss twice. They ran a nice pitch against San Fran for a first down on short yardage tried the same thing against Houston stuffed. They brought some WR runs against the 49ers that worked but outside that game they have been stuffed up every other time.

Joe also dropped back to pass 38 times against SF.  However, he tucked it and ran 6 times for 40+ yards because they were playing a lot man coverage.

The thing with defensive players is that even though there are situations where they just need to turn and run, it's easy for a guy to make up a tenth of a second by making great reads.  Conversely, it's easy for a plus athlete to lose their advantage and then some by being slow to process.  There's a premium on speed for certain positions, like CB if you're primarily running bump and run.  Offensive players know where they're going.  Defenders have to read before they can react.

Jessie bates also posted 2 points higher in the ras. He was a significantly better athlete. I’d love battle to succeed but don’t know we can count on it.
