He might just break (more) records.
Why would we do that? He is a short pass specialist that cannot handle pressure and does not have a big arm. He seems to be very smart and accurate with his short to midrange game. I think he is an excellent backup. Not sure if missed something with your comment...?

Those final 5 drives put everyone on notice. He has a clutch gene and that only adds to his arrival on the scene. I like the Purdy comp.

He is no Burrow - fine - but that’s a pretty high bar.
I think he is “mid tier” though.
He has gotten it done - cold off the bench - against 3 decent teams in a row now. His stats are impressive too.
What else is he supposed to do to prove himself.
Many teams would love to have a guy w Jake’s stats and performance so far.
Many teams would love to have Chase going 75 yards, Higgins catching jumpballs, and Mixon & Brown making huge gains on screen passes. Browning is doing an excellent job as a backup, but Im not sure why that so many cannot see the obvious limitations...

Exactly, he looks better than many starters and has won 3/4 and a 75% winning % is very good!

carried by Joe Burrow.
Today's win can finally put to rest we can t win without Joe,

Browning is a good backup but he still does things that make you shake your head. He ran out of bounds losing a yard instead of throwing the ball away. He took sacks when he had an opportunity to get rid of the ball costing the team valuable field position. He has played well but still needs to clean up some things.

There is only ONE Joe Burrow; you’re right about that.
Let’s honestly look at Jake Browning. He was slightly serviceable in preseason and he didn’t exactly look like a world beater when he came in against the Ratbirds. Against Pissburgh Jake looked better and even showed promise. With every start he gets better and more comfortable. If Joe Burrow was not on the roster we might be looking at Jake as a solid starter of the future. While I have no delusions he’ll threaten Joe for the starting job I do believe he’ll surprise lots of people — especially the Bengals’ opponents.

Purdy isnt throwing jumpballs. Purdy can throw deep posts/crossers and hole shots.

Browning isn’t just beating bad teams either. And he isn’t being held up by a top defense or run game (even though we are running better for our standards). Browning is showing me something. Not sure he can come into a 2-15 team and turn hem into a contender but he may be able to step in and do well with a team like LV or NE. Pittsburgh, Jets.
If Callahan gets one of those jobs.

He's had to learn to adapt his game from where he was at one point. We all know he was a PROLIFIC high school player, and I remember watching him at UDub. I like to drink beer and watch the PAC 12 late at night. I remember wondering what happened to him, because I thought he was legit as a Husky as well.
At this point, I think the guy has proven himself to be either a very high end backup, or even a starter. Either way, I do think he'll get a shot next year somewhere, assuming he doesn't completely flop the last 3 games.

I was being sarcastic. I just don't understand why you are assuming this guy is a backup when he's balling out. I'd say he for sure will get a shot somewhere next year if he even remotely keeps this up.

Burrow threw jump balls to Tee. That isn’t fair. Browning has shown he can make a deep throw. He just missed that one to Jones and has enough arm to make those Purdy throws.
If he was throwing jump balls to Boyd and Chase then I get taking note of that.

#1. Like I said, he isnt good pressured out of the pocket and he cant make all the throws, jumpballs wont get it. His stats are hugely padded by some great yac plays. He is a backup and will always be a backup, just wait and see.
#2. Where is he going to go? Why would we let him leave, he will earn the league minimum with us next season.
All this said, he is an extremely capable backup and Im glad we have him.

If you cant tell the difference in Burrow high balling Tee and Browning lofting up rainbows in which Tee has to stop running and come back and out jump defenders then you are even less knowledgeable than I thought.

I like Jake, but the 'better than Burrow' takes and him being a legit NFL starter are bad, really bad.

....and honestly, Charlie hesitated and then kicked it into gear. If he had been full throttle the whole way, that was a tuddy.

Why so down on Browning. We supposed to be living in the moment of unexpected success and this “playoff run” folks got chastised for not believing possible. Why not act like we found a gem in Browning. At least until he blows it.

Lots of guys throw jump balls. Especially to a guy like Higgins. That's literally his biggest talent. There are lots of guys starting in the league who can't make "all the throws" and are also less accurate and athletic than Browning.
If Browning plays even remotely close to the way he has over the last 4 weeks for the last 3, I'd gladly take a bet that he will be at least competing for a starting gig next year.
We can do a sig bet. I'm game.
This is a QB hungry league, and there's always some backup like Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb or Matt Cassell getting starting gigs after a decent run, and none of those guys played as well as Browning has.

Yes, high arching rainbows. He's good enough to hit those if the playcaller picks and chooses his shots. They're doing well with that. Jake was once a much better passer than he is now. I didn't know about his shoulder injury and surgeries until reading about them after he became our starter. Which makes sense, because, like I said....I wondered what ever happened to him. He was pretty damn good his first two years at UDub. I mean, he got John Ross drafted in the first, and Drew Sample in the second.
But seriously, I do not keep up with PAC 12 football, I just watch a lot of their games with a buzz late at night because they're fun and all that's on, lol.
