Welcome Jermaine Burton!

Just don't see the guy turning it on all of the sudden and getting 400+ yards this year.

They gotta find a way to reach Burton.  Why does it seem like we're so weak at WR all of the sudden?

We're weak at WR for three reasons...

Expiring contracts

Injuries

Insufficient draft capitol used in the position group to replace players with expired contracts/cover for injuries.

No Tee, no Boyd.

We have spent a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th the last 5 years..?   Jones was a not a great pick IMO and as much as I like Burton's potential he is showing why he was considered such a risk.  Capital was used, was it used wisely...?  We likely wont know for a another year or two.

We looked horrendous without Tee, hopefully that changes Sunday.  Someone has to step up.

Zac spoke about this in is presser. He said not all WRs are the 5th and 33rd pick and thus have to develop when asked about Burton playing more. The implication was the Chase and Tee were drafted high and ready to start. Zac was comfortable with Burton's development. I assume he feels the same away about other WRs on the team.

I guess they are comfortable waiting on the WRs to improve.

Marvin always said it take 3 years for most WR's to be ready to start in this league.

"It takes an NFL head coach about 17 years before they're ready to win their first playoff game."-Marvin Lewis, probably

By comparison, the Chiefs have used a 1,2,3, and 5 in the same span, and everyone says their WR's suck.  And they also supplement the position with outside FA's like Juju, MVS, Hollywood, etc.  We do not.

If you don't think it's realistic for a 3rd round pick to be ready to immediately start, then why do you wait until the 3rd to draft one when you need an immediate starter to replace Boyd?  I get Mims, but why blow your 2nd on a developmental 3 tech when you don't have an immediate need there?

The Chiefs front office is on such a higher level than ours when it comes to the draft that it is embarrassing.

I would assume that the lack of a veteran replacement for Boyd was hoping that Tee would NOT have his annual hamstring vacation and that a young guy would emerge at WR3.  Tee's hammy decided to flare up to start the season and of course we have no one developed to help Chase.

IMO, these must happen soon:
#1 Burrow must get his head together.
#2 We must find a WR not named Chase that can get separation, while running the proper route, and catch the ball.

We have no idea how long Tee will take to get back to full speed.

Yes the great Tyler Boyd who had 3 catches for 18 yards last week.  How would we ever replace that kind of production Boyd is now giving to the Titans.

Carlos Dunlap springs to mind.  More recently, many of us were questioning the play of Nick Scott (& Vonn Bell) over Jordan Battle and the use of the TE room, particularly the insistence on using Irv Smith, admittedly over non-rookies.

I'm not sure, but referring to himself in 3rd person during interviews could be a clue..

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
