Heck yeah, a sweep would be real nice.

I know Stanton is hurt, but still, how did the Yankees win that many games with only 2 guys in their lineup being above average hitters? Sure those two guys are WAY above average, but it's still just 2 guys. Primarily a lineup of guys with an OPS starting with 0.6

A very, very enjoyable 3 game SWEEP of the Yankees to end a successful 5-2 road trip.  Now to put together a string of pre-break wins in the upcoming 10 game homestand can put the Reds right back in the race.

Yes, that was a great SWEEP of the Yankees in The Bronx. Add in the Reds have about 1/4 the money the Yankees have, or less. Bengals Fans think in terms on NFL, but MLB is not NFL. The financial is very uneven in MLB with no TV revenue sharing and such as NFL has. Reds were David vs Goliath and a great Sweep by Reds in New York.

I don't want to talk play-off hunt at this time. Reds had a good Memorial Day series in Cincinnati of big crowds, making good money, and some good baseball. Now for Reds to have a good 4th of July series in Cincinnati of big crowds, making good money, and some good baseball.

The SWEEP of Yankees in New York should help to fill Reds home stadium July 5th Friday, July 6th Saturday and July 7th Sunday, as the 4th of July Weekend continues. Enter Detroit Tigers in what I call with hype, " The Sparky Anderson 4th of July Weekend Super Series ". Sparky noted because he won World Series for both Cincinnati and Detroit. I-75 could bring Detroit fans in to help fill Cincinnati's home stadium. All money is Welcome, as Reds need fans spending money. Reds lost money in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to no fans in 2020 and few fans in 2021 and 2022. Reds did better on fans and money in 2023, but were still shackled by The Moose and The Votto huge contracts.

So Reds free from Moose and Votto contracts made good money over Memorial Day Weekend, but need to rake in money this 4th of July Weekend. That will set the Reds up financially going forward into 2025. So I'm hoping for almost no empty seats as Detroit comes to Cincinnati this 4th of July Weekend.

I can't stress enough my disagreement with the movie Moneyball on if you don't win the World Series it's a bad season. I disagree. The World Series is 2 teams playing on Halloween. To me Moneyball is trying to rake in money Memorial Day and 4th of July. If we are talking about making Money. The Reds who lost Money in 2020 covid no fans, and 2021 and 2022 few fans, are in good shape to have back to back years of a lot of fans in 2023 and 2024. Cincinnati needed this, you can't lose money every year as Reds were doing, and stay in business. Reds owners were even talking of moving out of Cincinnati if money didn't improve. The Reds however are making money again, and a Big 4th of July Weekend to go with the Big Memorial Day Weekend they had, is just what Reds bank account needed to stay in Cincinnati.

So good SWEEP of Yankess, and now Fill The Stands in Cincinnati rest of 4th of July Weekend, to set Reds up with money for 2025 and going forward.

LOL

https://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Revenue_sharing
Quote:In Major League Baseball, 48% of local revenues are subject to revenue sharing and are distributed equally among all 30 teams, with each team receiving 3.3% of the total sum generated. As a result, in 2018, each team received $118 million from this pot. Teams also receive a share of national revenues, which were estimated to be $91 million per team, also in 2018.

That's an estimated $209m.

3 years later from 2021:

That's $237-247m..... and the Reds had a payroll of $126.6m that year. Followed by $115m in 2022 and $96.7m in 2023.

Not even counting the fact that the Reds went from ~$1.05b in value in 2019 to ~$1.25b in 2024, a casual valuation gain of $200m in 5 years on top of the $209-247m/yr in revenue (more now).

Got a bridge to sell you, Kevin, if you want to buy it. If you don't then I am pretty sure I will be out of money and will have to leave Cincinnati.   Ninja

Maile put on 10 day IL with a herniated disc in his back and Fraley put on family medical emergency list. Wynns and Edwin Rios called up.

Dunn coming home was a bad idea. We had a good chance to tie the game tonight. Another 1 run loss.

I don't put the blame on Dunn at all . . . I'm looking straight at Stephenson and Bell.

What is Tyler Stephenson's strength at the plate? . . . Going to the opposite field. He looked like he was trying to hit the ball to deep left field for a sacrifice fly or a Home Run.

I can almost guarantee that Bell told him during the time out while pinch running Dunn for Martini "Look for a pitch that you can drive." because Stephenson was yanking his head instead of waiting on the pitch and diving in.

Pitch one . . .  a thigh high 90 mph slider right down the heart of the plate but slightly to the outside(perfect for taking it the other way) . . . Swung too early
Pitch two . . . a thigh high 88 mph slider on the outside edge of the plate(again, perfect for going the other way) pulled his left shoulder as he swung early again
Pitch three . . . thigh high 89 mph slider a couple of inches off of the plate . . . he ####ing pulled it to the third baseman. Translation: Swung too early.

That's what happens when you are looking for a pitch that you can drive but the other team isn't in Little League They pitched INTO Stephenson's strength but Bell outsmarted himself.

One out of five stars.

As usual, the Reds can play with anyone, and play with no one. Constantly play to level of competition, but no more. Inconsistent, always.

Reds had close to 41 thousand in the stands July 5th. Should be a great crowd today and Sunday. Go Reds behind Hunter Greene and even the 4th of July weekend series in Cincinnati to give Reds a chance to win it on Sunday.

Happy 4th Weekend and Go Reds...Just like Memorial Day Weekend, a full crowd 4th of July weekend is money in the bank to help in 2025 and going forward.

7 innings
3 hits
2 walks
7 strikeouts
0 runs
ERA now at 3.45

He did his job. Let's see if they can hang on to that 2-0 lead or add to it.

Cardinals getting blown out in DC and the Pirates are trailing the Mets 3-2, Cubs crushed by the Angels and Milwaukee is in LA playing the Dodgers.
