Yankess are interested in Reds RP: https://www.si.com/mlb/reds/cincinnati-reds-analysis/report-new-york-yankees-eyeing-cincinnati-reds-relievers-at-trade-deadline-01j2kcrc1gqt
They'll probably offer their 50th best prospect for Diaz and then their media/fans will act shocked when the Reds decline the trade offer.

And then they went 3-1 against the division leading Guardians with the only loss in extra innings. Sometimes a team gets hot. Our beloved Reds lost seven in a row to begin a 4-16 stretch where they fell to 20-30 on May 23rd and then they began a 12-3 stretch when swept the Dodgers of all teams. Later, after they won seven in a row, they were 32-33 just 16 days after they were 10 games under .500.

When we started the series to play them, they were the 6th worst team in baseball. You casually ignore that they were 3-7 in their previous 10 before sweeping us. They lost 3 of 4 to the ANGELS. They had lost 6 of their previous 7 series, with their only series win coming against the worst-in-MLB White Sox.
If we can't call that playing a bad team, then there's only like 3 bad teams in all of baseball.

How can they be expected to go 8-2 against teams that are supposed to be licking their chops to play the Reds? Try to be consistent. You look like you're arguing for the sake of arguing.
It's actually three games and only four teams ahead of them unless you're considering teams listed alphabetically that are tied with the Reds.
Every week is their chance to make up ground. Four days ago, the Reds were five games behind the Padres while the Mets were three games back. Now the Reds are three games behind the Mets and the Padres because the Padres are in a four game losing streak and the Mets just won their third in a row.
On September 10th, 2021, the Reds beat the Cardinals to go 75-67. The loss knocked the Cardinals down to 71-69, three games behind the Reds. The Reds went 8-12 for the rest of the season while the Cardinals won their next 17 games and finished the season 19-3, a full seven games ahead of the Reds.
There is still a lot of time and the Reds have a damn good pitching staff.
Actually, we are 4 games behind in the loss column, they have to play the same amount of games, 162. And there are 4 teams in front of us and 2 tied with us. In order to get the last wild card, we need 1 less loss, which would mean we are 5 games behind, unless we end up in a 1 game playoff for the last playoff spot. Which depends on record against each team which is tied for last playoff spot.

We have 26 games left against the central division rivals. We are 2-4 against Brewers,3-3 against Cardinals, 4-2 against cubs and 2-4 against the
Pirates. We would be lucky to split the remaining games left in division. We have 6 games against Atlanta, 3 games against Kansas City,3 games against Houston, 3 games against New York, 3 games against Minnesota and 2 games left against Cleveland, all of which are above .500
I don’t see how the match works out, where they could play 10 to 12 games over .500 to get the last wild card spot.

The Reds have won one series in the last month. While I can always hope for them to win, I can't expect them to beat anybody, especially when they are a young team that's constantly playing to the level of the competition. Are they the 20-30 team from a month and a half ago or are they the team that pulled up to 32-33 a month ago? The offense has several backups starting almost every game right now. Even though Friedl isn't tearing it up, he's clearly the spark plug for this offense. India has been great lately, but he's been playing everyday. All they did was move him up in the order. It's Friedl's backups that are helping to kill them.
Game 1 Spires gives up three HRs, in what we hope was an off night. Suter gives up another HR, Reds lose 5-4 as Olson lowers his ERA to 3.22 in 5.1 innings.
Game 2 Greene throws a gem. The bullpen has the rare flop, Reds lose 5-3 as the Tigers run out 6 pitchers in a bullpen game. I don't know what the Reds record is when facing a bullpen game over the years, but it can't be good.
Game 3 Skubal shows why he's 10-3 on a 'bad team'. Very interested in watching him face the Dodgers tonight.
Two of their starters are better than the guys they faced(Spires and Ashcraft) and the other game was blown by the Reds bullpen. Sometimes, you just tip your cap to the opposition and move on.

That's awesome.
They're still only three games back.

You're right. You do have a flair for the obvious, but you're right.
If the current Reds don't make a trade for a power hitting OF or if Hinds doesn't work out, they probably won't make the playoffs. Pretty much everyone in here is agreement with that . . . but we also celebrate when they play well. The only time that you seem to post when they play well is to defend yourself. It kind of comes across as a Chicken Little syndrome.

Lets handle business and sweep this bad Marlin's team. Clean top of the first, now lets put up a crooked number in the bottom.

No, technically we are 4 games back in the loss column, it says 3 games back because NY has played 2 fewer games. But if they win those 2 games, we will be 4 games bqck.
At this point in the season, We can not end up tied for last playoff spot with NY, San Francisco or Pittsburgh because they have a better record against us, and they would get the playoff spot. We do still have games to play against all 3 of those teams, so that is not settled yet. And we are tied in series with St Louis. It could come down to a tie for last playoff spot, and whoever has the better record against each other would get that spot.

Another disturbing stat, is that the Reds are +32 run differential, which should place them higher in the wild card race. The American League, every team with a +run differential is in the hunt. Only in the national league is St Louis, with a -38 run differential, but have the 2nd wild card spot.
Tells me, the Reds lose games they shouldn’t and St Louis is winning games they shouldn’t. Blame it on bad players, base running, manager decisions, or whatever.
But it is obvious, according to the stats.

Where have they been hiding Hinds, smooth swing with contact.
Marte needs to go back to the minors, can’t hit and too many errors.
EDLC needs to take some hitting tips from Hinds. EDLC is off balance on almost very swing, needs to compact his swing like Hinds, that would cut down on his strike outs.

Tony Santillan called up. Martini transferred to 60 day IL and Spiers placed on 15 day IL with right shoulder impingement.

Let's hope that he's learned that when you throw a fastball, you don't have to throw it the same speed every single time. Sometimes, you can leave a little off and it will throw off the timing of the hitter. <-----True story.

Ok, who bet $1000000 that Rece Hines would come up from AAA and put on a pretty good imitation of Babe Ruth? I wish I had just bet 50¢ on it happening.

This isn't looking good. Abbott struggling to finish even 3 innings, nearly at 70 pitches.
