EDLC 109.5 mph exit velocity!

5 combined HRs in the first 3 innings already, that's a lot of bombs.

EDIT: 6! Holy shit, going to run out of fireworks. Lol

What an answer from the Reds!!!! Hinds and EDLC could be the Reds version of the bash brothers (Canseco and McGuire).

Pitchers will start to figure him out soon. Let’s just enjoy it while it lasts.

Or they'll hit him on the hand with a pitch and break a bone.

Yeah, the ASB will probably cool him off. Then there's what you said, unfortunately.

I'm thinking that Suter's braindead play was an act of selfishness and shows that he's worried about keeping his job.

When a pitcher makes a decision like that with one out and a four run lead in the 9th inning, he's thinking about his ERA and not thinking about finishing off a game. It might not quite be time to add 'veteran lefty reliever' to the trade list, but if I'm Krall, I'm paying close attention to Suter's next outing.

Abbott and SEVEN relievers. Probably wouldn't have used seven if it was a week ago, but now pretty much every reliever is ready for tomorrow's game. The only two relievers that pitched in game one vs the Marlins was Martinez and Diaz and neither of them pitched today. Lodolo will probably have a very short rope, especially if the Reds don't score early.

Nice to see them beating teams they should be beating. And maaaaaan, Hinds must be seeing a beechball up there! I'll be interested to see if he stays hot through the ASB, and if pitchers start to figure him out a bit, if he can adjust without changing this swing that's been working so well for him since his call up.

I thought it was gonna be a long day with how Abbott was getting knocked around. Thankfully the bats came to mash today.

wow, just WOW Rece Hinds is on total fire, love it !! A lot of people are hollering Aquino 2.0 due to his not-so-great track record in the minors. I get it

But this just feels different. Hinds has 3 doubles and triple and 2 stolen bases. He has speed and isn't just a HR or bust kinda hitter. His game seems sustainable. Sure, he's bound to come down to earth some. How some is the question??

But he's for sure added a giant spark to this team. I'm anxious to see what's down the road? For a change

Aquino couldn’t hit a curve ball or slider, only a fastball. Which is why they stopped throwing fastballs over the plate to him.

100%

I really hope he's legit, but a voice in the back of my mind keeps repeating that he's a career .244 hitter in the minors that struck out ~35% of the time.

Eventually pitchers will adjust to him, and then the real deciding factor for major leaguers is if they can then readjust back to what pitchers have done.

After a half of a season, I'll gladly replace Benson's numbers with .244 and only 35% strikeouts.

Sure, but that's the minors.

In the minors Benson was also a career .221 hitter and struck out 29.7% of the time, obviously neither of which are good and now we're seeing the results after a limited sample size of him being good in 2023. Generally there's some red flags that you can see if you look that will keep you from being blindsided.

It's obviously not a guarantee that if you do really well in the minors you'll do well in the majors, but if you do poorly in the minors and then you do well in a small sample size in the majors, you have to ask yourself what changed and why that ability hadn't been shown prior. Baseball is a pretty strong you-are-the-back-of-your-baseball-card game.

No doubt

Benson sure seems like he's plateaued and just is what he is.

I get it but.... Benson has had a long extended chance and is still struggling, to put it mildly. Hinds there's still hope that who knows? Perhaps the light came on.

Would I bet the farm Hinds is a Super Star in the making? No But I'm damn ready to close the book on Benson and give Hinds a chance.
