Chase not Practicing
(09-01-2024, 01:18 PM)Luvnit2 Wrote: I hate to put a damper of him potentially signing because he was late to sign autographs and hope he signed. My grandson was in charge of Chase's football camp. He said he was great, but late everyday showing up for camp.

My grandson with help from others runs the camp, not Chase so maybe he was late by design.

Yes I was just saying what was being said and I didn't put much or any stock in it. Players especially this time of year probably have a pretty full schedule and could easily be late for multitude of reasons. I do think Monday practice will tell us a lot if he practices.

He will be docked pay if he choses to sit out per rules, starting today if they would practice

The 1st five pics back then would be the highest paid players in the league without playing 1 NFL snap.

As for Chase, sign the man, then focus on winning the division, the AFC and then the Super Bowl. Come on FO and Chase, compromise and make it happen.

I think it has it's good and bad points.  I mean, the Jamarcus Russell stuff sucks, but at the same time, a team was dumb enough to draft him #1 overall and pay him that.  It would be interesting to see under the current scale how many guys are overplaying vs underplaying their rookie deal.  I think it's also hurt veterans in ways just because replacements are so much cheaper.

My big gripe is the 5th year option.  So, you lived up to your draft hype and are outplaying your contract...and your reward is your team gets to prevent you from bargaining a contract on the open market for another year.  The NFLPA completely sold their incoming members out on that one.

Your rumor mill sucks
Looking forward to a fun & successful season minus any drama. Time to get a deal done.

I hope Burton is going to be ready to play a big role. I don’t think this is going to be settled before the season begins, and if it isn’t, I hope they trade Chase or just let him rot.

The 5th year option is not a bad deal for a 1st round draft pick to have his first 4 years fully guaranteed.

A 1st rounder is compensated extremely well by their drafting team and the player is developed by the drafting team, they should hold more rights.

I will never understand a fan wanting good players to have even more access to leave their team.
I don’t know if the deal is done but **** me the amount of wannabe itk accounts representing the Bengals fan base is embarrassing all posting the eyes emoji citing no sources set of weirdos.

That they're salaries for that year should be factored into they're average per year as pertains to Chase. Interesting but I don't see it working like that...

You dont see it working like that because if you figure Jefferson or Lamb's 4th year into what they will have been paid, Chase will end up making considerably more.  Lets add Chase's 4th year to come up with an average over 6 years but lets not figure what Jefferson or Lamb's average is if you add their 4th year to get the same 6 year average?  Of course you dont want to do that, it ruins your whole argument
I hope he has signed and they announce it, like Burrow, before the Chiefs kick off. I would find that to be so F'ing funny and entertaining!

People trying to get those Elon checks. I’m pretty much done believing any of them at this point. Zim -who actually does know some of the players - was wrong about Tee last year. Myles Murphy’s brother said he was going to be back by the KC game. Etc.

None of them knows shit.

I just want there to be a resolution to this situation. Sign him, have him agree to play this season withouta deal, or trade him for a big bag.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Right about now Brian Thomas Jr is looking like a better Bengal pick than Mims.

I have little doubt JaMarr Chase will play, but the game install has already started. If not signed I can see him being a distraction all year; although, I hope that's not the case.

I'd love to sign Chase and just have it over, but obviously, I don't blame the Bengals for not doing so,

It's not my argument. I'm just saying that's how people always break down contracts. There's the contract avg per year and the actual avg per year. I don't know if that's how it works not to make or break an argument I'm making but if Chase would do that. Seems like he wants his actual average to be close to Jeffersons. We'll see what the #s are if they get this contract done. But I don't think the Bengals have a problem with the avg or paying for his 4th year.

It always amazes me just how quick people turn on players.
The Bengals are anxiously waiting to see if Burton can replace Chase (buget wise)

I imagine Chase will play this season, sit out voluntary practices and OTAs, and then get his big deal during next year's training camp.
