The money doesnt have to go into escrow upon signing, there is a specific date for escrow deposits.
Guaranteed money always includes the signing bonus. That is paid upon signing and thus not escrowed.
The first year salary and bonuses, which are always guaranteed in big deals, are not required to be escrowed.
Future roster bonuses can be considered "rolling guarantees" and are usually not escrowed.
The funding rule requiring escrow is not a CBA negotiated rule. It is a rule made by the owners only, and can be changed the owners at any time. They havent because they use it as a negotiating tool to plead poor.
Is it truly required? The wording of the funding rule in the CBA states that "the NFL may a deposited escrow", not that it is required. Several accusations were made that Haslem did not escrow the $185M of Watson's contract that may be required.
Thanks for this. Millionaires playing a shell game. Meanwhile, I'm wondering why chicken wings cost so much.

I never used the word wanted. I said the word requested, which he did.
Chase also asked for a deal here first, he hasn't requested a trade (yet). So it's just weird to say you want to get rid of Chase because he's not committed to the team but want to keep a guy who requested a trade.

Tee wanted to stay. Most likely the Bengals were holding off on both Joe and Chase. Chase is disrupting the team. Tee did not. They aren’t the same whether Chase hasn’t requested a trade he’s a ways out whereas Tee was franchised.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

His performance last year disagrees. He wants a deal, doesn't get it, and suddenly forgets how to catch and (according to pfr) breaks zero tackles for the first time his in career? Coincidence I am sure.
Tee last year looked a lot like Bates' last year when he was here and playing but making business decisions.

Bates last year was on the franchise. Tee’s is this year. And what about reports he’s had his best camp?

Odd to purposefully tank one’s own value in the course of carrying out said “business decision.”

To make you all feel better, now Mike Hilton is tweeting memes in relation to the Jets nickel corner getting a big extension.
Aren’t you glad you support a team where so many millionaires aren’t happy about the number of millions they are getting

That's 32 out of 32 NFL teams.

Tee's contract was up. Chase still has 2 years. They are not the same.

Mike is great, but if he were to really show his ass, Dax Hill would slide into that spot real quick.
Unlike Ja'marr, there's an heir apparent on the roster at nickel. I want Dax to succeed on the boundary, but he's always been a readymade nickel. Hilton's presence was the only thing standing in his way.

It seems like he's been doing a lot of work off-camera. I doubt that his conditioning would be a problem. Familiarity with the offensive gameplan? Could be more of a sticking point.

I think tomorrow is the big day, if Chase doesn't practice tomorrow I will start to doubt his participation Sunday. I hope I am wrong.

Not signed? He has 2 years left on his contract. I do agree however Chase needs to ride the bench this week even if he does agree to an extension tomorrow. What should be happening is he should be fined for sitting out.

Kudos to WeezyBengals recognizing this issue way back on July 26, when some speculating it was a non-issue and that Chase was just listening to his body or trying to get extra practice time for the rookies.
As Ja'Marr Chase is one of my all-time favorite players -- and I display a collector's item card of his on my desk -- I'm predisposed towards him. And he's has made some plays that are unforgettable, like when he broke free against KC, surrounded by Chief's players. But I still was quite annoyed that he decided to do this hold-in with two years left on his contract. It did not seem ethical to me. However, those feelings were ameliorated by the thought-provoking commentary on NFL contracts by various posters, most notably by Whatever, which allowed me to understand another angle in terms of the ethics of this situation.
But I don't see the ethics of Chase showing up last Monday and Tuesday (a week ago) to practice and never communicating to his coaches that he would not be returning to practice on Wednesday. The fact that he never communicated was evident by Coach Taylor going before the cameras on Tuesday night and saying Chase would be ready for game 1, and then needing to go back in front of the cameras on Wednesday and do a mea culpa and take it all back.
It just seem really irresponsible of Chase to have not communicated with his coaches what his plans were for practice, to the point of it being a complete surprise when he showed up and didn't practice last Wednesday.

He is an adult but he's also young, and has people telling him what to do, most likely. His actions are his own but not telling the coaches his plans, that is probably the immaturity of himself and the people guiding him.

Interestingly, every link saying the escrow rule isn't required leads back to the same PFT article. It's from Florio who is not exactly a paragon of honesty. So, assumi9ng this is a real rule it is likely a league rule. Signing bonuses would count against it so the rule would be that the guarantee upon signing that has to be escrowed is the total minus any lump sum payments like signing bonuses. Remember Burrows deal had guarantees that phased in over time - this cut down the amount needed up front.
That's why I am assuming the holdup is the structure of the guarantees. Remember the Bengals Operating Income is about 140 million a year - which includes the revenue sharing. So they have to fit everything into the cash they have stacked up, some of which they already used in Free Agency.
