College Football Season Open Thread.
(12-26-2024, 11:54 PM)pulses Wrote: GO look at the results from previous years when their were 4 teams....teams were still getting BLOWN OUT....your point is moot.

There have been lower seeds in the previous 4-team playoff that have not only kept it close but actually won.
So my point is not moot there chief.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

He could play LG for us for a cpl years......way better than Volson lol

I finally watched Harold Fannin Jr and honestly I went into it not wanting to like the tall 6'2 230lb TE and there are some limitations but damn he makes a case for best route runner in the draft class. The dude can snap off breaking route, box out defenders, and climb the ladder with excellent ball skills. At 230 he is a great blocker against Defensive backs in space and while he does put up a fight against DE/LBs he's just outmatched. Fannin is a stiff player and I wouldn't be surprised if he's a 4.7 speed guy. I would describe him as a high end Tanner Hudson TE/WR hybrid that is a good blocker in space.

Assume you meant small.

IRT TE I watched the UND playoff game and found myself liking Mitchell Evans, he's a big TE 6'5"/260 and made some very good catches, but when I look at draft projections I see UDFA. What am I missing?

I meant Tall 6'2 as in he's probably just under 6'3.

I haven't watched many TEs yet this year (3 total lol) so the only thing I really know about Mitchell Evans is he's coming off an ACL in 2023 and I think some kinda ankle or foot surgery in 2022. But as for why he's still low it's peobabaly because he hasn't declared and drsft analysts are just now starting to stack boards past thr top 50/100.

I'm getting ready for the Senior Bowl watching prospects and Elic Ayomanor instantly became one of my favorite players.

Corners hate this guy because he is physical every rep especially as a blocker. Good size, hands, athleticism, and PHYSICAL with a capital DAWG. He runs a similar route tree to what Burton did coming out last year so he will need to work in the slot.

I think he's an interesting prospect and would probably be my pick if we wound up taking a WR on Day 2.  That said, he does have a history of drops, which won't endear him to many around here.  Kind of has a poor man's Ja'Marr Chase vibe in his game.

Because this draft isn't top heavy the All-Star games are shaping up have some of the best rosters we've seen. Good chance the Bengals #17 overall pick will be at one.

Here is the Underclassman list for the Senior Bowl.

Side Note: I'll start the All-Star game thread this weekend.

In other news LSU WR Kyren Lacy is likely done. He fled a hit and run with a negligent homicide.

He is a great fit for a 11 personnel team that wants to run or use WR screens with 3 receivers. He would be a great fit with Ja'Marr Chase (and Tee if he's resigned). Jack Bech is another blocking receiver people are high on. I like his blocking but he is a limited athlete at receiver.

Thought he had a good year and maybe a 2nd rounder.  You're right though.  Not now.

Breakdown of Elic Ayomanor getting too and blocking the box safety from the boundary on a gap run. Just awesome.

Looks like another LSU problem child (Arik Gilbert) is trying it again:

Surprised to see Singleton returning.  He had a Top 100 grade and RB's usually try to come out early if they can to save wear and tear.

Strong RB class this year might mean a weaker one next year. If Singleton shows a little more creativity with the ball he could go round 2.

Sounds like our third round replacement for Burton.
