Early Season Burrow
#21
Honestly? I hope it is just an early season thing. What if the problem has nothing to do that and this whole year is a hot mess? That is a real possibility.

It's still funny to think of Andy as a grizzled, veteran QB, but in his 14th season that's what he is.   Goes to show how quickly time passes.  All-time he's only a couple thousand yards behind the likes of Unitas and Montana.

I'd take Dalton as our 2nd string QB. I know Browning did well, for the most part, but having a savvy vet would be nice.

No idea why people are thinking he cant make throws with the wrist. He threw deep balls all training camp. We saw some in the pre season game.

Just weird people are thinking its physical. Its tabloid type stuff.

It's all mental with Joe. He starts slow every freaking year. People need to chill the hell out.

Correct, Burrow knows he won't be hit during practice, which has to give him a sense of security that he clearly won't get the benefit of in a game.  I think there's some hesitation from Burrow regarding the wrist and he's trying to avoid putting himself in a precarious position that would leave him susceptible to re-injuring it.  Or maybe he just had a bad game and this is a moot point a few weeks from now (hopefully).

I wrote off Burrow's slow starts in prior seasons to missing Training Camps. I know there is not a single factor for the team's' slow start but if I had to weight the variables, I think Burrow's inconsistencies in cognitive processing early in the season is the most pressing variable. As go Burrow, so goes the team.

He and along with others needs more repetition at game speed. Missing prior TC due to injuries has slowed his acclimation to game speed. Like many have stated before, missing preseason games or not playing enough preseason games hurts the chemistry of the entire team.

At first I thought 'Jesus, he really looks old.  Playing in this league has taken quite a toll on him.'  Then I realized that was your sig.

Well, I agree that they need more preseason reps.

But, preseason games aren't the same speed as regular season games. And teams play very bland defenses. So it might help some...but not a lot.

Here, I think the system relies on guys like Chase and Higgins.

Mahomes goes so off script I disagree. Now do I think that they’d still be pretty good? Yes
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Are you thinking that Burrow has been David Carr'd?

I thought that I read that they also limited his number of throws during camp/preseason? I also saw something this morning alluding to the idea that Joe was noticed frequently rolling his wrist around during the game and massaging it while on the sidelines. Given that, there could be a shred of truth to the idea that there is something physical going on with Joe B.

I'm thinking that the bigger reason for the consistent slow start to the season has more to do with Zac Taylor's "soft and easy" approach to training camp and preseason.

I don't think he has, but if he keeps getting hit more...he might.

The only real sample of his arm being truly tested this year is the deep ball to Higgins in the preseason which was a great pass. {excluding practices}

I think it is more him not being prepared for the start of the season like most of his teammates this falls on Zac.

The right side of the line is a little shaky Capa and Trent if Trent was 30 pounds lighter or so I think he would be fairly solid. This pressure is in Joe's face so he can avoid most of it.

Joe threw the ball way sooner then he needed to on a lot of throws if the right side of the line shapes up and Joe realizes he has more time to let plays develop then we will be in good shape.

Hopefully Zac runs the ball as well 4.5 to 5 yards a pop could help a QB coming back from an arm injury greatly.

Burrow had no physical problems. It was exactly as he described - his internal clock was/is off. And in a timing pass offense that is a big problem. Hope he has it fixed by the KC game.

Right ...it all relies on timing and anticipation. I don't understand how people don't see this. When he's on, it's a masterpiece, when he's off even a little, it can go off the rails quickly.

Going with a theme I saw earlier..... can't we just blame Taylor for all of this? It's like some people are bigger fans of the QB than the team. It's weird. Ninja
