We're making the playoffs

(6 hours ago)PhilHos Wrote: That's what I'm saying! Thank you, bfine! Let me add, that against Washington, only Eckler ran for more than 4 YPC and that was on 3 runs. Even Daniels only ran for 3.3 YPC against us. Starting RB ran for less than 3.

Still, I get the concern for the rushing defense, but again our starting DTs were out and 3 players we're counting on to be heavily in the DL rotation are either out with injury or played limited snaps in his first game back from injury.

I agree! We had Carter and Peko Jr. playing the vast majority of DL snaps and then Jenkins who played one handed, getting a few plays along with Guy and even Hubbard. I also believe when we get Hill and Rankins back, it will be a lot better.
The OL has been playing better, the running game picked up Monday night against a good D front. Burrow went deep a couple of times to Chase.

We all need to take a deep breath here.

Hope you're right but I doubt it. That means they have to go 10-4 or better the rest of the season. Be serious.

Well history is a bit on our side. Even last year we made a run at the Playoffs with a backup QB where I thought we might of won 1 game
with Browning, maybe. Somehow we won 4, somehow....

The 2 years before that we started out slow as well and made the Playoffs and went to the Super Bowl and the AFC Championship.

I understand your side and it is easier to be on your side honestly. Having hope all the time and it being dashed in the big games at the
last moment hurts like a sumbitch, but it is better for me to have some hope and it sure isn't like back in the Marv days. We would win
games early and always lose in the Playoffs and almost all the primetime games.

Under Zac Taylor and Lou this team fights mid to late season. Just the way it has gone the last 3 years.

Essentially, if we don't get them we are far worse than our record would have you believe. I have been a big Lou fan specifically for how he has played KC (Maybe the best in the league) but there isn't much else he has done really well and his input in the evaluation of players has to be questioned if this is where we are. I think it's probably time for us to move on.

Daniels was PERFECT passing when he wasn't blitzed on Monday and we never thought "hey maybe we should blitz him"? The league is now about being willing to adjust and it seems at times he likes his system and won't deviate even if it brings down the team. I think this goes back to his belief someone is goin to get him the turnover he needs to win because they have always bailed it out...but that can't be our strategy going forward.

We need a defensive miracle at this point to be relevant. Maybe Murphy, Jenkins, Jackson are that but I am not sure you can bank on 3 young players to save you at this point.

I don't think it's a defensive miracle, but yes, we do have to rely on at least 2 o f Murphy, Jenkins, and Jackson being quality contributors in order to turn the defense around.

We need 3 games to get to .500. That would put as 3-3 which is 6 games. 6 is less than half of 17. I don't understand your point.

If one of the Bengals FO folks spy on this board, HMU!

Honestly, I'm rarely here during the offseason. I don't check the board regularly except during the draft and around the start of training camp.

AKA the perfect job!

Too many people - especially amongst Bengals fans - are readily available for such a position.

The good thing is the Offense is way ahead of where they were the last couple seasons early. Burrow is playing well, we have been efficient
in the run game and the OL has not been terrible. Mims should get better with more snaps and having Tee back along with Chase and these
TE's could be badass with the explosiveness of Chase Brown and the solid hard to tackle play of Zack Moss.

On Defense we just need to get our DT's back and communicate and tackle better and it can be under control. One bad game against a
very talented QB in Jayden Daniels has not broken my spirit. That dude can pass out of the pocket better than Lamar. He could be very
special in the NFL. I was very impressed by this guy, smart, accurate with the legs is extremely hard to play against especially for the first
time.

No doubt, buddy. Keep the faith!

I am serious. I understand why you disagree, but I think we win at least 10 more games this season

Yep, I think people are (understandably) focusing more on the 0-3 part. Yes it's bad arecord, but imagine if in the middle of the season we were 8-0 or 6-2 and lost 3 straight. People would not say the season's over (well some would, but let's not go there).

For the record, there are legitimate criticisms of the team and sure, it's okay to be worried/concerned, but all I'm saying is the season's NOT over and in fact, I see us still making the playoffs.

Problem is, we are 0-3, and to get to your 8-3, we would have to win 8 in a row. That’s not happening with this defense.

Agreed, but I think the defense improves when we get guys back from injury. Plus, I think tackling improves starting Sunday.

Do we even have at least 1 TD per game for any RUNNING BACK yet for our team?

Of course the defense improves, how could they possibly be any worse than last Monday. No stops on defense, can’t get any worse than that.

I just think it will improve.
I guess CTB has infected the rest of the defense with his verbal diarrhea.

A significantly-worse Defense that is philosphically the same as this one, had 2, 4 game win streaks.

It absolutely can happen, though I wouldn't count on 8 games either.

But 3, 3 game win streaks and you're sitting at 9-5 and in the thick of the playoff picture. Hell, even 3 2 game streaks has you at 6-5.

The numbers are not as insurmountable as they seem.

Have you watched a single game this year?

Deshaun Watson still sucks and Joe Flacco ain't coming to save the day when the rapist inevitably sits out due to some mysterious injury. Only need the Steelers to start losing games and we could still win the division. Outside of the division, Chargers and Dolphins have their starting QBs going down, Raiders may finally be coming down to earth. Jets will probably get one of the Wild Card spots. I see no reason to think, as things currently stand, why we couldn't nab one of the other 2 WC spots, especially if we have 10 or more wins.

Still not enough. A few teams have look dominant, most have had issues. We are a dumpster fire. Even finishing second in our division may not be enough, and it's not like anyone in our division we consistently beat up on, even when they are "bad." Math is clearly on your side. No doubt about it. Reality is they have not shown they can win.

I think we win a few to "so there's a chance" arguments going, loss more, just to have the dead cat bounce in the end.

Yeah it can happen, but the thing that scares me is that 2/3 losses have came from bad terms(in Cincinnati no less). Patriots aren't good and I'm thinking that the Commanders are a middling, but below average team at best. If we were losing to the best teams in the league I would have more hope. I also don't have a lot of faith in Taylor. I've always thought his scheme and play calling were suspect.
