Dan orlovosky is right about zac!

Yeah. At first I thought maybe she forgot a qualifier for that stat like "heading into the 4th quarter" or "at halftime" because that is normally how those stats work, but...

They were down 14 heading into the 4th quarter against the Vikings in 2023.
They were down 14 at halftime against the Bucs in 2022.

So I don't know what that stat could have been.

You consider the dude who has went to the AFC Championship game 2 of the last 3 years "middle of the pack". As I said our fanbase has become spoiled. Zac took them to someplace they had never been before, now they want "more".

Me? I good with what we currently have

And it's amazing how fast that happened after decades of "I just want a playoff win before I die"

Or, how far back was she talking, because Dalton brought us back from 17 down against the Seahawks and if I remember right that was all 4th quarter (but maybe not)

4th quarter and OT. We were sitting in the end zone where Nugent doinked in the game winner off the upright.

(10-24-2024, 05:38 PM)XsandOs Wrote: Lucius, I understand your thought process. I ask that you consider the following:
1) The fundamentals of football has not changed. It is the same game of 11 on 11, same field dimensions, same down and distance, same route tree, etc.
2) There are innovations over time, i.e. no huddle, RPO, Tampa 2, Bear 46, etc. But they are far and few in between.
3) Where that leaves us is the one true staple of football, execution - which is based on talent and cohesiveness.
4) This offense took us to two straight Conference Championships and SuperBowl.

One of the reasons for the slow starts is the loss of talent and injuries starting in 2023, and the lack of initial cohesiveness of the new players. The revolving door at TE and now RB position, add to this.

Lastly; the 15 or so pass plays that we run have route options in most of them, where WRs can curl an out route or inside receivers can dig or run a corner, TE can run a flat or a shallow cross or a seam (seam depends on alignment), etc. That is the issue early on. Knowing when to cut the stem and be in sync with Burrow (BTW, this is where Yoshi still needs experience).

I'm sure you have either played or coached at some level in football, so I hope you take my opinion within that context.

1) Not sure how the fundamentals and rules of the game are relevant to discussing the changes or lack of changes in offensive scheme
2) There are huge innovations like some of the things you've listed, but also small tweaks and changes to offenses/defenses. The Shanahan offense. The Vic Fangio defense, etc. While they might not be doing anything drastically different formationally, the way they attack defenses/offenses have developed over the years to be ultra effective.
3) Yes, but this is essentially my point. This offense works because we have 3 elite talents at the 2 most important positions on offense.
4) Crediting the offense for those post-season run is a stretch. We averaged 233 yards & 22 points a game (remove the fumble return TD, 23 ppg if you keep it). Those numbers would be good for last place in yards per game (by 20 yards) and 16th in ppg in 2024.

We started out poorly, got hot for 3 games, and our offense has been poor the last 2 weeks. I'm not sure what starting slow has much to do with this conversation, since we're back in an offensive rut.

We keep saying every week where is the tight ends and why they almost never have an impact on the passing game??Ask yourself this question how long have we all been asking that same question??Where is the tight end seam routes??Where are the tight end digs or crosses ect??

Dan said and I quote there's absolutely nothing physical about the bengals offense is he wrong??when is the last time the bengals run game was able to carry the whole entire offense??Zac puts no creativity into the running game at all, almost the entire run game is ran from some variation of the shotgun why??
when is the last time you've seen burrow under center with 3 tight ends on the field??There's no excuse for this offense to consistently play the same game and lose the same way against the same kind of defenses every year..Defenses that play 2 high with a 4 man rush with a good Dline will always be his Achilles heel and it shouldn't be..

He needs to seriously diversify this playbook and it needs to happen asap this is getting old fast and this ownership should be looking at this very long and very hard because it's starting to be embarrassing..

Zac Taylor's offense has always been, and will always be, "my team will out talent you."

With Chase and Higgins outside and Joe throwing the ball, that works a lot. It got us to a Super Bowl and AFC championship, after all.

The goals are simple. Just keep an eye out for one on one coverage on the outside and, when both are double covered, throw to the empty space in the field due to that extra attention to the outside receivers.

He does not try to trick the opponent. He does not "scheme players open." He does not come up with creative combinations that open space in the field outside of the well known ones like Dagger (which has a clear out route that rarely gets thrown to).

If and when Higgins leaves, this offense will either evolve, or it will struggle.

And I don't trust Zac to evolve. He hasn't in 6 years.

Zac is good at adapting to his players and is willing to change his playback to fit said players. If he was a bad coach he wouldn't do that.

True and that is why I still have hope with the guy, that he is young.

Before Burrow went down and Browning and the team played damn near good enough to make the Playoffs I thought Zac might of
been carried by the players, not after this.

Yes, all of a sudden it doesn't matter because Browning played well when Burrow went down, convenient I must say.

Tua goes down and the fins under McDaniel fall on their face.

The last few sentences at the end of this video has a somewhat disturbing stat mentioned.

"I know that you were baffled by that stat that Stephen A shared with us, Kyle Shanahan's San Francisco 49ers 0-40 when trailing by at least 8 . . . The Bengals? 0-48 in that situation" . . . I'm guessing she forgot to add "under Zac Taylor".

Zac Taylor is the head coach and it may not have been pretty but hes done a remarkable job the last 3 years and we should be grateful

Im sure no other head coach could have had the same success with those rosters....... geez, the Bengals social media plant is not disguising himself very well.

My take is that Zac is going to be here no matter what, I just want him to be better situationally.  I like the HC calling plays, otherwise we would be going through OCs and new offenses every other year.  A little more killer instinct would be great.

Also, it is very normal for fans to criticize their own coach.

Yeah, really not so much AFTER a Divisional WIN.
So, why are we not able to enjoy a win and still not like the way it was accomplished?

Is this a new rule or something?

Seems like a weird way to "enjoy a win", but different strokes.

I don't see how it's weird. So, since they won i should just completely forget about anything they did and just enjoy it.

I had a great time and enjoyed the win as much as a person could. But i was still able to look at the game and think they need to correct some things because how they won, might not beat a better team.

Hell. The team themselves have to enjoy the wins more than fans, but they're still critical and say so in post game interviews.

How weird are they?
