Jermaine Burton still doesn’t know the freaking plays

I don't think there is any doubt he is the most talented WR on the team not named Higgins or Chase. BUT, he chose to come into the pros with a lackadaisical attitude about learning the playbook, then when asked if he regrets that, he takes no responsibility for himself not being on the field. We've seen lots of talent come into the league and flame out because of attitude.

Everything Jermaine Burton does right now is vertical and stems from those vertical routes which is exactly who he was in college. Like Erick All, Burton and the Bengals need to continue to work on expanding his route tree.

It's not just his route tree, he has assignments on plays where he is not getting the ball, and he's been missing those.

I'm not sure what you mean but Burtons entire route tree consists of 7, 8 ,9 routes, 10 yard curls and comebacks. He is practically only playing a small portion outside receiver offense. He isn't even running Joe's favorite outside route yet (Bang 8).

Well he has to get it right in practice to see the field. Evidently, last week he was better and is going to be rewarded with more snaps....

Also, he had a 61.9 Run Block Grade last week, not bad for a WR.  Yoshi was a pathetic 37.9.  So I dunno.  It feels a little Marvin-esque in maybe Yoshi is "coach's boy" or something.

You can be the best player on the field but if the coach doesn't like you.....

Rumor is... he may have missed a practice this week and could be inactive Sunday.  I certainly hope that isnt the case.

Yea. Sounds like he skipped the Saturday Walk-through and will be a healthy scratch tommorrow but it could all be BS and Pryor was elevated because Charlie Jones is more injured that expected.

When you are like the 6th player considered as someone to throw to, you best make every effort to show off in a good way.

Man, if that's true and he skipped practice without a legit reason, he should never see the field again.

More positive news.

Sure hope it’s all a rumor.

Nah these are adults now you treat them like one.... You work his ass off then dock his pay lol. Play him today then fine him Monday for missing work without an excuse.

make him do punt returns, easy deep WR lobs and such.. must he be in every complicated play if he's noodle is tiny but talent inmense? if he's not suitable long term, maybe use him short term to our benefit, squeeze the most and then trade him?

“The last two weeks of practice that he’s had and the stuff he’s put on tape warrants more playing time for him," Burrow said of Burton. " ... It’s my job, it’s coach’s job, and his job as well to continue to find roles for him, find opportunities where we can get him the ball and continue to see what he can do, because I think he’s got explosiveness, and he’s got the ability that we need to harness and find a role for.”

Oh well.

Coaches and QBs almost always say good stuff to the media. Could probably find similar about John Ross and Jerome Simpson putting it together.

So it is possible they are just lying and the guy is trash?

At a certain point you lose your teammates trust and if the reports coming out about Burton are true he lost it 5 times over

Is honestly call LA and ask if they’d take Burton for Cupp straight up
