Week 9 injuries

(11-01-2024, 03:04 PM)Sled21 Wrote: Obviously not. There's a reason he was on a practice squad instead of a 53-man roster. Ford is by no means a great tackle, but he has played better than expected the last two weeks. If they can find someone better, great, but let's not act like that is just an easy feat this time of the year.

I agree it's not an easy feat, but going to the well 1 too many times is just asking for trouble. And for Burrow these next two weeks are significant historically. Injury wise.

So I hate they testing fate.

Add Zach Moss to the doubtful list. How can someone get hurt in a walk thru

Burn the place to the ground just make sure the conditioning staff are locked inside before striking the match.

More carries for Chase. I like it.

At this point I’d be irritated if they signed Tee to a LTC. Certainly don’t dislike TH. But we have limited resources and cannot spend them on a guy who misses half his games.

Who you gonna sign off the couch or a practice squad that would be better? They're not going to trade for an OT when Brown Jrs. injury is day to day.... it's up to Joe to be aware of matchups and get rid of the ball.

Pretty much any of these guys would be better than Ford and are still available.

Alternatively they could keep a TE on that side more often to help block.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Higgins has missed 10 games in his 4.5 year career so far.
73 possible games, 63 games played.

That's waay better than Kawhi Leonard who's missed a third of his career games

Did the tackle they signed from ATL practice squad not have any potential? This is a key 2 week period for Burrow to get through as it relates to the time of the year and his history of making it through the season. Why test fate?

It seems Ford played LT last week and fared quite well. I thought he did fine the week prior but "rating" didn't support it.

Jackson Carman must have been a turd while here. It also hurt seeing Fred Johnson neutralize Trey last week

Higgins pisses me off. I'm sure he's a cool dude and all, but these injuries spark the opinion of a lame duck, money milking punk who will scream for more money at the end of the season, when he's about as dependable as a crack hoe whose body has been worked by 10,000 men. I have zero love for Mike Brown, but in this case, don't give him more than $12hr to play next year.

With the way this season is going expect more "Orange Flu" injuries as players would rather just sit then play. Players will find ways to get on that injury list until next season.

If nothing else it’s a good reminder just how bad our coaching staff is…

Trending the wrong way, which everyone knows.

Would you pay him WR1 money?

Basically we'll have to have All shadow Crosby - wherever Crosby goes so does All to provide help. and also keep the back in to block. Finally put in some rollouts for Burrow. Hopefully between them Chase and Burton can get into their routes so Burrow can hit them.

I've said for a while that I would not retain Higgins for the money he will likely command.
Nothing against his talent, but some other teams would likely make him their true WR1 and feed him targets.
He may become a Raider or Patriot, both teams who could use a boost to their receiver room.

I'm as big of a supporter of Tee as anyone, but I think he's losing his chances at a long-term deal.

IF we lose Sunday I think he will get dealt to a contender (Hou, SF, TB) and then someone will sign him to a 1-year "prove it" next year.

All those guys are over 30 and one of them is approaching 40. There's a reason they are free agents. I do agree though about giving Ford TE help.

Who cares if they are over 30 if it's for just half a season stopgap?
They are all better than Ford at protection.

I don't want Tee back unless he's on the Vet min.

Sounds crazy to say but his injury history is a HUGE concern and he isn't getting younger.

Unfortunately both Higgins and Burrow injuries have cost the Bengals games.
