They lost the SB because they didn't stop the other team's best player on offense or defense. They lost the AFCCG because they didn't stop the other teams best defensive player. They lost to the Ravens because they didn't find a way to utilize the team's best player(s).

This offensive philosophy has a common denominator and that's scrapping the run when need to run it. Waaay too many 2nd/3rd and 2-3 yards on both sides of the 50 and to pass happy. Every team knows it as well. There's an element of toughness required and they don't have it thanks to coaching. Last week, up by 21 with 12 plus minutes left, they just threw a 15 yarder to the TE to the Raiders 35. What does ANY team do with a lead like that do? R=They run the ball. Bengals? Let's throw a quick screen.
3X last night they're on or inside the Ravens 40 with 2nd/3rd and short and they lose out on downs by throwing it and I'm talking low % pass plays where timing is required to the max. One time late in the 1st, up 7-0, Brown runs for 7 yards on 1st down inside the Ravens 40 and you don't see a run the next 3 downs. It's inexcusable.Another time on the 40 with a 3rd and 16 and instead of trying to get 7-8 yards back for a FG, yards which EVERY team will give you ,they try for the 1st down. It's a stressed-out, tense football team that has zero confidence.
The D played their asses off for 2.5 quarters and if you think any D in the league is going to shut the Ravens down for an entire game you're smoking something.

This team is going to struggle against the Ravens until they can get a speed rusher that's actually capable of catching Lamar. Our guys look like they're wading through quicksand whenever Lamar is in open space.

Yes!
And Burrow, with all his injuries may have 5-7 prime years left.
Chase probably has 3-5 years at an elite level.
Instead of wasting these resources, we should get a competent staff in now. Maybe Zac is an above average coach? But, we need an elite coach as we aspire for SBs.

Well, if they have any hopes of a SB, they're going to have to get a new coach. 5 year rule is up at the end of this season and what are the odds they win it all this year?

Have to agree. Belichick took away other team's strengths when Brady and him were winning all those Super Bowls.
That is what great coaches do. Neither Taylor nor Lou are great coaches. I like Taylor and think we can win a lot with him but the rest of
the staff needs to be gone, we need a real GM and new coaches all across the board and Taylor needs to just step back and let a good OC
do his thing. Even if the Offense is really good right now, that is Burrow, Chase and the weapons.

Wait, so if we converted the 2pt conversion they would have been correct? That is NOT how football works, the decision has nothing to do with the outcome. Bad decisions workout sometimes and good decisions do not workout at times. Some of these comments are mindnumbingly bad.

We can win with Taylor IF we have an elite roster.
Burrow is playing at an MVP level and we're 4-6. Burrow has 24 TD's and 4 Int's on the year and we're 4-6.

I was one of the few that applauded the conservative play calling. I would have preferred if he was more conservative last night.
But you know what they say "You can't please some people any of the time."
BTW no FG is certain with Maybe Mac this year
I complained about Zac being too conservative and taking the ball out of Burrow's hands in the loss to the 49ers back in 2021, bpetty32 is telling me today that Zac went for it on 4th down AND a 2pt conversion 3 years later so I was wrong back then....

I think Zac can win a lot, if we have a Top 15ish defense. Burrow and Chase are simply that good.

I think my biggest problem with the 2pt try is that they let the playclock go all the way down and then took the timeout. I am firmly a believer in that if you go for 2, you are best off doing it up-tempo after the TD you got. The defense is reeling from giving up a TD, guys might be looking at who-let-who-get-open and thinking about the last play, and you are just immediately ready to take advantage of them reeling to get a quick conversion.
Between the playclock after the TD, the timeout, and then the playclock after the timeout, you're giving the defense over a full minute to catch their breath and collect themselves for the task at hand.
It's a bit like how the best time to try to take a deep shot is right after a turnover when the defense has to run on the field when they thought they were taking a break still, and might not be fully mentally checked in yet.
I agree with that, and as Herbie pointed out, they had the one on one they wanted. I initially thought they were going to try to draw em off to get closer, but when they didn't, it probably would have been best to kick in that situation. I liked going for two, didn't mind the call, but the time management was not good there.

I didn't see the hands to the face, Gesicki was mauled, and I think Hudson was hit before the ball got there too.
Totally. I was really rankled when Gonzalez and Fitzmagic agreed that there was no real PI. They said the Gesicki didn't count because Burrow wasn't throwing to him (though it was obvious defensive holding) and they said the hitting Hudson before the arrival of the ball was not actually hitting him before the arrival of the ball.
But the face mask no call was unbelievable. How do you ignore that?? Then again he was getting late hit all night long and they called it maybe once? I felt like both our QB and our receivers were brutalized all night with impunity.
But then again their dbs were on our receivers (except Chase) like white on rice. Our DBs trailed consistently 10 feet behind their receivers.
So frustrating.
But that last ball was a touchdown except for the PI. And if they disagreed with that they had to absolutely blatant missed calls. We should have won that game.

What NFL HC couldn't win in that scenario?
MVP QB and WR. And a Top 15 defense.

Even then, he had Gesicki WIDE OPEN beyond the sticks for the first, and another check down that would likely have gotten the first. A lot of people complain about the short passes, but I think they weren't around when the 49er dynasty was doing those left and right as an extension of the run game.
I was livid. We were moving the ball and had men open. Why go for the low percentage play twice!
Those two decisions were part of why we lost. And that was Joe not Zach.

I did not understand their logic either.... holding is holding, idgaf where you're throwing it. Tanner was definitely hit before the ball arrived.

Agreed. I like aggressive pissed off Joe, but I think he got a little bit too aggressive there. If it had been Tee or Chase he was throwing to, I might've understood it more.
