Joe Burrow puts team on notice
(12-03-2024, 04:52 PM)Wyche Wrote: I've seen it mentioned elsewhere too. I'm not sure that would sit well with Joe. They've effed up this entire year, no need to add to it by pissing off the franchise. If he's open to it, then by all means do it. It's a Catch 22 for me. On one hand, I don't want to see anything stupid happen to him in a lost season, but if he's not onboard with it, I don't want him disgruntled too.

Oh, I would bet money that Joe would be like "F that. I'm playing. Last game to the last minute." Yet, I could see Mike Brown saying "I paid a lot of money to this QB and I don't want to have him on IR to start next year."

*Guy has been injured a lot already. This O-line has played like this while chasing the Super Bowl. When the other side of tomorrow is selling roofing shingles, I am not sure of the quality of blocking we will get out of them. You think the Browns or Steelers would not take their shot at Burrow.

Not on the fire ZT wagon either. But this team needs to start over on the drawing board with A LOT of issues.

People like you guys are why the ownership doesn’t make changes when needed. It’s ok, he went to a Super Bowl years ago. Doesn’t matter that the team is awful, let’s give him 10 more years. Hammer

This team is not fun defensively

Lou's defense gets exposed when he doesn't get a timely turnover

Pally you've seen me say it a dozen times or so in Discord this year. "Oh yea we gotta play defense again." Lol.

People like you still seem to think ownership gives a crap what you or I or anyone else thinks.

Joe is going to have to get more aggressive with his leadership I think.

Burrow has given up on winning (this season). Fun to watch is for the fans of the victors, and the league. Not for the fans of the losing team.

I don't care for this tone.

Just like you want your star receiver to say I don't care if I get the ball as longa as we win....

You want your QB to not care about how pretty a loss is.

Having fun leads to wins if you haven't noticed. Who are teams having the most fun right now? The Lions and the Bills, my SB prediction.

Nothing wrong with being fun to watch and this season is over and it hasn't been Burrow's fault who is playing like the MVP at his position.

The Defense is so ugly it doesn't matter if Burrow and the Offense put up 55, the other team will put up 58.

I do not get the feeling that Joe has given up on winning. His play certainly does not show that.

I do think he has accepted that a majority of the defense is terrible and the coaching staff is a big part of the problem. Including scouting in the coaching equation.

The question for his is how does Joe Burrow handle the situation?

You've got that backwards Nate. Wins lead to having fun. Nobody (who will ever be a winner) is having fun while losing.

I just can't bring myself to watch our D anymore. I turn the channel, look at the score, and know to add 7 to the opposition's total.

.....If we drafted better ( i know ....i'm back to our scouting department getting smoked every year ).....but if we drafted better then we would have solid players under cheaper contracts for several years and build the team that way.....the way the great teams do....but we draft terribly and then we have to pay free agents more money to come and fill holes....so PLEASE Mike Brown..... bring the scouting department up to par with the rest of the NFL.....AND in the short term....bring Joe into the room.....and let him tell you who should stay and who should go from that locker room.....

Saw a comment somewhere with someone having to defend Burrow ( which is crazy ). He needs to play absolute flawless ball for the Bengals to win. No turnovers, no punts, no settling for field goal range. It is impossible to do, especially week in and week out, every drive. It is a team game, but he is the team at all times. The game winning or losing drive may actually occur in the first half. All because the defense is horrible and the kicking game can be suspect. I think he was pretty spot on.

In the Gameday thread, someone was like that's the game" or something when we had that first turnover. And it wasn't the usual GDT type of doom and gloom. It was appropriate.

He needs to put his OL on notice. Week after week I see this shit and they never do anything about it.

He'll get fined for that, and whoever grabbed his facemask and yanked it around will probably get fined as well...... but the refs just will not call dirty hits on Burrow for some reason. Burrow should have gone to the ground there ala Mahomes and threw his arms up in the air. Taylor said he was going to be more vocal about it, yet last night he had at least two chances to chew on the refs and just stood there.

Thank you. This was the one thing I wasted to get off my chest today. Its obvious the NFL is going to do nothing to protect Burrow. I see flags thrown for other QBs when anyone gets even close to them. Yet game after game after game Burrow is hit late repeatedly, hit in the heat repeatedly. and hit low repeatedly with never anything done about it. Last nights facemask was as egregious as it gets and yet somehow NO ONE saw it.

If the NFL isn't going to do a ***** thing then his ***** teammates need to step up.

It's BS !!

Burrow takes way too many late hits/cheap shots and it goes on damn near every game. He's the new Cam Newton for whatever reason?
