Now part of our issues could be scheme. I really don't know what we try to do out there. We're in zone a lot and not near receivers. It's really hard to say.

Correct, they don't. This is what we are saying Sharpe basically made this up. There was one bad season 5 years ago and even then they forced a ton of turnovers like we did a few years back. The reality is our defense has never been good it simply got a lot of timely turnovers/stops that saved us.

Yep. And you can have a defense that gives up a lot of yards, IF you can pressure the QB and force turnovers. We do none of that.

With an even average defense, we have 8-10 wins.

The thing is no matter how good or explosive you are most games in the pro and college come down to 3rd and 4th and shorts we don't have the personnel or scheme to win this offensively or defensively most of the time and the rest is just window dressing.

This is what gives me hope for the future. Just have to get decent on Defense and we will be okay with Burrow and our Offense especially
if we upgrade the OL coach and commit to the running game when it works.

defense is also fairly variable year over year. An elite defense can become an average defense (and vice versa) without any changes since so much of defensive production is opportunistic. Geno Stone is the perfect example of this. He was a ball hawk last season because he was just in the right place at the right time. This season, he can't even tackle a guy, let alone intercept a pass. This kind of shift could theoretically happen across an entire (or a significant portion of a) defense, for better or worse.

Very true. A new DC could come in and revive the entire thing. Back to fundamentals and such and the Defense could make a complete
turn around pretty easily. We haven't had any lucky breaks this season it seems, at least enough to win games where the Quiefs have had
every lucky break imagineable and the refs helping them out in order to win close games.

Unfortunately, we could have had Andy Reid if we didn't stick with Marvin, we could have had Mahommes if we didn't stick with Dalton, and I don't see why Burrow couldn't be boinking Taylor Swift.  We had all the chances in the world to do whatever it is the Chiefs did in order for the NFL to decide that they were the only franchise that was allowed to win.

Pfft…forget Taylor Swift, Joe could have had Livvy Dunne. He kind of dropped the ball on that one considering he broke up with his gf anyway.

Chiefs also have refs help and the Bengals get screwed by the refs constantly real big difference.

Lol Shannon is drunk.  KC hasn't had a defense ranked lower than 16th since 2020.  Most of the time they were in or right at the top 10.

How'd that one song go? Oh that's right. I think it was "Facts ain't easy for a man named Shannon."

I'm not one to stereotype, but there are certain patterns with names that I've come to respect:
1. People named "Chuck" are crazy
2. People with two first names are bad news
3. Men with names like Ashley or Shannon are NOT to be trifled with.

Ugh, while Dunn is quite a dish, her social media tells me a story the best thing he can do with that is run from it.

All these posts about if we just do this, if we just do that, the offense is on fire and we just need a bit better D, etc.  That's all well and good and all true, but the only problem with all of that is that the Brown family owns and runs this team and they are absolute, 100% losers when it comes to running a football team.

So the actual REALITY is that there will almost certainly be no real change, no change in the scouting, in the drafting, in the coaching, in the way the FO does anything.  And even IF they do make a couple changes there is no way they are bringing in a proven, winning coach and even less likely a proven winning coach is going to come here only to be hamstrung by the inept, dysfunctional Brown family.  The facts are that we can most likely only get unproven, low level coaches who are trying to make a name for themselves.

I'm seriously not trying to be a downer Nate.  I don't want to feel negative.  It's the worst feeling not having any excitement about watching the Bengals.  I do other stuff right up until game time and then put my jersey on, sit down and prepare to watch the Bengals figure out a way to lose and half the time figure out a way to lose while setting yet another historically awful NFL record; like the one we just set with Burrow and his stats and losing instead of winning.

I have certainly been frustrated and sometimes negative throughout the decades, but I was always excited and jacked up to watch the Bengals.  All week I would look forward to it.  Even with so much losing, and embarrassment, and awful NFL records set and the worst owners, etc.  Then we got Burrow.  Then for the first time since I have been actively watching the Bengals (I think 34 seasons) I had true, real hope.  Something to be truly excited about.  The corner had finally been turned after 31 seasons of not witnessing a single playoff win.  We got Burrow and Chase and Higgins and Lou and Zac.  We were finally going to be a force for years to come!  We had 2 awesome seasons.  So much excitement, so much hope, so much fun!  And then just like that, it was all gone again.  After 2 years of winning we went back to shit and then that shit turned into nasty, gooey, runny shit this year.  Even with Burrow and Chase having legit MVP seasons.  It's the most disgusting, heartbreaking, most frustrating season of Bengals football I have ever endured. For me personally it makes the 2015 playoff game feel like nothing.

I never thought I would actually get to the point were I genuinely have no excitement for Bengals football.  People talk about it now then on here, but I am actually there.  They actually broke my spirit.  I have no excitement.  I watched the Steelers game as I watch every Bengals game.  I clapped a couple times as we kept it close, but knew what the inevitable outcome would be.  More losing.  And here we are with Burrow and Chase having an insane season and yet in true Mike Brow/Brown family fashion we sit at 4-8 and out of the playoffs.  We can't beat anyone in our division.  We will end up 2-4 or 1-5 again.  We will probably beat the Steelers next game as they will most likely be resting starters as there fans once again enjoy the excitement of the Steelers winning history while we sit on the couch yet again.

And with all that said the FO, the Brown family is the root cause of all of this.  My spirit was not broken by loses alone.  I, as well as everyone here have endured lots of losing over the decades.  What finally broke my spirit is the true realization that as long as the Brown family owns this team nothing will change.  They will change for no one under any circumstances.  Winning is second in the Brown family culture.  The Bengals will always be losers as long as the Brown family runs this team.  There is no hope.  They do things their way and that's it and the results are losses.  I thought they would change after getting Burrow and Chase and experiencing two real winning seasons.  But alas, nothing will change.  They don't care.  It's their way over winning.  Even with Burrow and Chase.  I will probably never see a better QB and receiver in Cincy in my lifetime and the FO is just pissing it away because of "our way" and stubbornness.

I truly, genuinely hope they prove me wrong.  I hope we win a SB next year or at least can make the playoffs and be competitive.  Actually win some division Games.  Actually beat some good quality teams.

Anyway, just like every week for the last 34 seasons I will put on my jersey next week and sit down and watch the whole game no matter how bad it is.  There will be no excitement, nothing to look forward to.  Just crap defense and most likely a losing season while the FO does noting as usual and wastes maybe 2 of the best players the Bengals may ever have.

who-dey I guess.

He says the dumbest shit about Burrow

Burrow can go 38/40 for 6 TDs and take 1 sack to end the game cause a guy like Cappa got insta-shedded and he’ll say “Do great QBs take sacks to end games?”

Coaching makes so much a difference i TRULY believe the Chiefs staff would have us 8-4

That’d be 4 more wins

We’d likely beat WAS and NE. So now Ed just need 2 more wins

Chiefs game would’ve been a win. And likely 1 more between us and the Ravens

I remember pics of that chick, way hotter than Swift has ever been by a million miles.

Ah, well at least she is hot. I don't even get the fascination with the girl next door look of Taylor Swift.
