Bell and Hubbard were officially benched against Dallas
#21
Hendrickson, Hubbard, Ossai (FA), Murphy, Sample (FA), CedJohnson

I pick Ossai to keep, but regardless only Hendrickson has a guaranteed spot after camp.

Not gonna say if we did this earlier we’d have more wins cause that’s not fair but the fact it took this long is crazy.

Side note Myles Murphy got 2nd most snaps of a DE after Trey H

Finally making the right moves, like Sunset said, just late like always. Battle is way better than anyone else at Safety by far. I know
Stone had a better game and got the int but I would still bench him and start Tycen or Daijahn Anthony at Free. Ossai had a nice
game and I want to bring him back. Murphy was pretty invisible to me in this one getting so many snaps, but he needs them to
continue and grow. Has good strength, just is slow to close, unlike Ossai who has quicks.

Ivey had a very good game IMO. Really like this guy if he can stay healthy.

Battle still has room for plenty of development/improvement. For example, there were a few times where he was grossly out of position prior to the snap. I know this because I saw the LB look at him and wave him up to the line, albeit a bit too late. If he's going to play SS (which I think that he's suited best for), then he's gonna have to recognize obvious running situations and get comfortable creeping up to 5 yds off the ball.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I sorta wish Hendrickson would worry slightly more about that.

Agree, still like Battle the best of all the Safeties but he needs to work on creeping up to the LOS and wrecking the run game and
blitzing the QB. Criminal benching him for Bell this season after having a fine rookie season.

He was never the problem. It was always the Free that was the problem, not the Strong. Battle would be much better at this point if
he wasn't benched in my opinion. Just another reason we need to move on from Lou.

Ivey was pretty decent in college. Would make plays here and there. He'd also be out of position and get beat sometimes.

It's interesting that we're signing guys off of the street and playing 6th and 7th Round picks and it's an upgrade on defense.

Marco also made at least one nice play and looks really talented. Think he was an early pick if I am not mistaken?

Part of that could be the lack of film on them with which to decipher their tendencies.

Stone looked far better. I think a lot of it was they changed how they were using him. Last night they had him attacking instead of sitting back on the play - it was closer to how McDonald used him in Baltimore.

I think of them similar to the phrase used for the strategy that insurance carriers use to get out of paying benefits. Deny, Delay, Defend, as in deny that there is even a problem at all, delay any course of action that might remedy the situation and defend their weak and meager reasoning for not taking on the problems head on.

Good analogy

Very little is done with them proactive. If anything, it's reactive and way too late. You could write a large book with examples. Not trading Tee, not resigning J. Chase now they're going to pay a fortune. As some recent ones.

Mindboggling

I am holding out hope as well.

Maybe lees time for Hubbard will work out for Murphy?

Ossai did not look bad though...

Another note: Joseph Ossai played a good bit of 3t & 4t.

I truly think he’s Hubbard direct replacement

Looks decent against the run when i decide to focus on him
