ESPN HOT SCOOP ALERT..... To fuel the fire!
Supposedly, Tee Higgins is thinking about changing agents, and cutting his agent who was also... Jessie Bates agent, David Mulugheta of Athletes First.
As you can see... no field side chill pics with the guy and Tee lately on his social media?? https://www.instagram.com/davidmulugheta/?hl=en
Not included on his AthletesFirst agent of the week graphic he post recently... https://www.instagram.com/p/C_v1Y9kS543/?hl=en
They added, David longer is listed as working with Tee on the official NFLPA site as well!
This has to be great news for us keeping Tee?!

Or you could look at it as Tee wasn't happy because his agent wanted him to sign for less and told him that was the only way a deal would get done.

If we are going to go with conspiracy theories... you really think that is the case?
Do you recall Joe Burrows best friend on the team was Jessie Bates?
If we are jumping to conclusions... Tee clearly wants to stay, and knows Mulugheta won't get the deal done for him and disagrees with what he is thinking about doing and potentially conspiring with Joe on.

Look, in my view, I'd rather have 1 elite (Burrow, Chase, Hendrickson) or near elite players (Higgins, Reader, Bates) than 2-3 high priced mediocre guys (Rankins, Stone, and atm, Cappa & Hubbard).
The choice gets tougher if you are talking about guys who can still play pretty well (L. Wilson, Chido, BJ Hill, Hilton, Pratt, Hubbard & Bell from 2 years ago).
And letting underperforming vets go to save cap is one thing. Being able to actually upgrade them is harder.
Rankins & Stone should be easy. It is hard to do worse. But Hubbard & Cappa are trickier. Hilton & Gesicki more so. BJ Hill, Pratt, and Wilson even more.
I have been on the "Tag Tee Twice Train" for a while. Assuming his agent would never do a deal. So I take this potential change as a good thing.

NFL and contract structures are evolving. It's more about guaranteed dollars than ever before. Bengals have missed out on numerous players because they won't change their structure.
Mulugheta may be a pain, but so are the Bengals. They do the same thing as he does, not flex their way of operating to try and retain/sign players.
They are lucky as hell Tee changed his agent to accomodate them. IMO its ridiculous he has to do so.

Tee has played exactly 50.0% of the offensive snaps this season after playing 52.67% last year.
So far this year he has been on the field less than Drew Sample. Or Cody Ford.

I think Tee has been misled by his agent that is why he switched.
He may or may not sign with the Bengals, but I think his agent's advice has hurt his chances at getting a great contract.

Could be a good sign for sure. This Mulegheta guy's players never seem to sign with their original team as we saw with Jesse
and many others across the league. If we can extend Tee without it hurting us and adding to the trenches I am all for it. Joe
seems confident in us getting it done and this makes me a little more confident about it.
Really like Tee, just wish he could get on the field more. Hopefully he does something similar to what Housh did so he can be
more dependable if we do extend him.

I've heard that before, but never seen any stats on what percentage of his athletes move on after their rookie contract expires. Not even sure where to look for those stats, anyone have some insight?

Maybe Tee and Jamarr will sign as Joe Burrow's first and second clients as he branches out in being an agent.....

Not actually true, Nate.
He's had 9 players sign extensions or hit FA and get at least $20m guaranteed... 7 of those extended with the team they were currently on. Jessie Bates and Christian Wilkins are actually the only two who left their teams to get their deals.
Deshaun Watson, Derwin James, Jalen Ramsey, Michael Thomas, Budda Baker, Jordan Love, and Malik Hooker... all signed extensions with the teams they were on. (Yes, even Watson. Don't forget he originally signed a 4yr/$160m extension with the Texans. His Browns deal came only after the trade.)

I don’t have the numbers but the eye test tells me that when Tee plays, we play better as an offense. He commands attention and that allows Chase to go off more often than not. I wouldn’t sign him to some ridiculous contract but he’s worth a hell of a lot more for even 8-9 games a year than just about everyone else besides Burrow, Chase, and Hendrickson have been for the entire season so far.
I wasn’t for signing Tee before but even with all of the money spent on the defense, they suck anyways. To hell with it, pay Tee and Ja’Marr if it leads to us getting to watch this offense eat every game.

Jalen Ramsey was traded to rams, where he signed his rookie extension. Jaguars didn’t resign him.
Malik Hooker also was not re-upped by the colts.
Some of the other were also highest paid at their position, so maybe he does a really good job of getting players paid, but it’s not like his hit rate is as good as you say it is.

We've played 3 top-10 overall defenses so far this year, and Tee missed 2 of them. Also Tee missed the first two weeks and the offense ALWAYS looks like shit in the Taylor era to start the season, regardless if Tee is there or not.
Those two facts might be at least part of why your eyes might be telling you that.
We have 3 more top-10 overall defenses remaining on the schedule.

Jalen Ramsey signed an extension with the Dolphins this offseason after having already played with them for a season.
The Colts declined Malik Hooker's option. He signed a 1 year deal with the Cowboys, played well, signed an extension with the Cowboys, played well, and signed another extension with the Cowboys.
They were on a team, played at least a year with that team, and then got extensions with that team to keep playing with them... even if *somehow* you blame Mulugheta and Hooker for the Colts declining his option and him signing for less than $1m to play elsewhere, and blame the Jags for trading Ramsey for 2 1sts and a 4th... that's still 5 out of 9, which is still the majority. An extremely far cry from his clients "never" signing with their team.

In games that he's been available (8 of 13) Tee plays 82% of the offensive snaps and is either productive or a great decoy for JaMarr. Only being available for play 8 out of 13 games is something to note. Who wants to pay top dollar to a guy who's only able to play 2/3 of the time? This situation will only get worse as he ages. (not my opinion, just scientific facts about aging with hamstring problems)

After Burrow, Chase, and Hendrickson, we don't have another guy on the team who even sniffs a big money deal outside of Tee. And a lot of the other, higher paid vets are either vastly underperforming their deals (Rankins, Stone, Hubbard, Cappa, McPherson) or just barely worth their money (OBJ, BJ Hill, Hilton, L Wilson, Pratt, Karras).
Restructure Burrow (+19 cap), pay friggin' Chase with guaranteed money and extend Higgins, or at least tag him.
DE, DT, IOL, & S all need immediate attention and have overpaid vets (Hubbard, Rankins, Cappa, Stone). BJ Hill, Ossai, Cam Sample, Tufele, Ford, and Bell are all FAs.
CB, LB, TE, PK, and WR3 would be my tier 2 needs.
Tier 3: RB and OT depth.
