Tee’s market price
(02-12-2025, 05:53 PM)007BengalsFan Wrote: I would guess Higgins wants to stay with the Bengals and has given the Bengals his price.  Tee sees it as being up to the Bengals management if he stays or not.  Its out of his control although not really because it does come down to what Tee is demanding to be paid.  I understand Tee wanting to maximize his payday.  I also understand the Bengals needing to use that money elsewhere on other needs.  If the Bengals let Tee walk, they better upgrade the offensive line at the guard position(s) or else it makes no sense to let Tee walk.

thanks for the inside info..please let me know next time you have lunch with Higgins so that I can request an autograph

I don't think the only logic is replace him with a guard, why not replace him with a DT or DE ?  Last year 8 out of 10 top offense in yards a game made the playoffs, Falcons and Bengals did not with Higgins.  Of the bottom 10 defense, none made the playoffs, i could see the argument it is more important to go replace him with a defense starter or offense starter.

Seriously, are you being a troll on purpose or are you just naturally channeling Richard Cranium?

At this point, this is more about making Burrow happy than re-signing Tee.

You re-sign Tee to keep Burrow happy. Plain and simple.

Tee Higgins will be a very rich man wherever he goes..he will be treated like a king..People on here are acting like he will be relegated to Siberia if he leaves here..I would not sign Higgins for one reason alone..aside fro m considering the many holes on this roster.....Dude cant stay healthy, his chronic hamstring problems were not caused by an injury and they will not get better..and Joe Burrow is not gping to sit on the bench and mope if Higgins leaves

I think they should tag him again. He misses games for sure but there are also at least 5 teams out there who would probably give him $30 million plus per year. Franchise tag will be much lower than he will get on the open market and then they could work out extension or trade him.

And we absolutely can afford it, and extending Chase & Hendrickson. All we have to do is restructure Burrow (+$19 mil), cut some underperforming guys (Cappa, Rankins, Moss, Volson, and Hubbard nets another $30+ mil).

That's roughly $100 mil in space. And yes, there may be tough decisions on guys like BJ Hill, Hilton, & Gesicki. Or maybe we have to part ways with guys like Drew Sample, Stone, McPherson, and/or Pratt to save some more money (all 4 would net another $17.5 mil).

But paying Higgins, Chase, and Hendrickson is not a hard decision. That's the easy part.

The tougher part is how much to pay & when to cut bait on guys like OBJ, Wilson, Hubbard, Pratt, Stone, Hill, Hilton, Gesicki, Boyd, Chido, Karras, Cappa, etc. Guys who are good but not great.

Bates was up and down instead of consistently great here. Reader was when he was on the field. Bates' inconsistency (even he said he let the contract stuff get to him) and Reader's recent injury made these tougher calls than hindsight suggests.

But the mistakes have also been magnified by the blunders in trying to replace them (Rankins, Scott, Stone, Hill at S, etc.).

This is the right answer.

The cap is going up wrought 8-10% per year.  That's minimum $20 million each year.  There's no reason we can't start pushing some of this money into the future.

There's no reason that you can't back load a few of these deals and sign Higgins, Chase (whose deal won't hit until next year), as well as a guy like Trey Smith and Sweat from the Eagles (if we went that way).

The issue is the gauranteed money.  All that money has to either be paid out as a bonus or put in escrow.  The cash requirement could be a major issue for the Bengals since they don't have a ton.  The cap isn't the issue - the cash is.

Well, you did take it upon yourself to "self diagnose" his condition, there Doctor ERIC1.

Your troll comment had nothing to do with keeping Higgins.  As far as making stuff up, have you watched any interview Tee has done the last few weeks?  He has been asked about his contract and staying with the Bengals.  He has made comments that he couldnt control it so nobody is making up anything.  Your should watch some of these interviews before you say people are making stuff up because you clearly dont know what you are talking about.  It has come from Tee himself.

However, his comments about Tee having a diagnosis on his hamstring injury are him just making things up. Funny how people making stuff up like to accuse others of making stuff up, right?

And because I'm done with their sorry attempts at filling holes when they lose players. I'm good on Darius Slayton or whatever douchebag Jermaine Burton type Zac Taylor likes in the draft. Some are claiming bringing Tee back won't make us better, but losing him will make us worse.

Trevor Lawrence wants a reuinion with Tee from their days at Clemson!

Quote:"T's awesome, we have a history for sure," Lawrence said. "No matter where he goes, obviously, I'd love to be throwing to him again. But no matter where he goes, he's going to be a star. He already is, and I know Cincinnati wants to keep him. So Joe's been putting the pressure on him over there.""I'm sure he's got the relationship with Joe, like, if everything goes well, I'm sure he wouldn't want to leave," Lawrence added. "But if that wasn't the case, I think I would definitely be up next as far as T in our relationship and what we've done in the past, and we played together for two years, had a lot of success in college, and we could, we could definitely do that again."

Lawrence also makes note of how the state has no income tax, so that could help entice Tee.

They're obviously not going to give up their first round pick (#5), but Tee could be a big boost for their offense with Kirk being injured the past two seasons, Gabe Davis being a let-down and Parker Washington might not be anything special. I could see them giving up their second round pick or one of their two third round picks.

Giving Lawrence a weapon like Tee would make too much sense in keeping him happy and free up a lot of cash for us.

I know Burrow likes him, but bring in another talented receiver and I think Burrow would be ok with losing him if we gets a draft pick or two and cash to improve the line and defense.

I love the idea and I'd be on the phone with the Jags daily from now until draft day.

Thoughts?

Tag him and trade him to the Jags for their #2 or sign him!

If Jacksonville is willing to do a tag and trade, and live up to the suggest cost being two firsts, then sure. Actually, even their current 2nd and next year's 1st would be great.
