It's like comparing Chad Johnson to Darrell Jackson. Tee is not on AJ's level. Youre on crack if you think so

Through 5 years.

AJ Green played 76 games. He commanded 9.3 targets/game catching 5.5/game - 58.5% catch rate. He averaged 81 yards per game for .59 touchdowns.

Tee Higgins has played 70 games. He commands 7.3 targets/game catching 4.7/game - 64% catch rate. He averages 65.5 yards per game with .48 touchdowns.

Since 2021, Tee Higgins has played in 5 of those games without Chase. In those 5 games, he gets 8.8 targets per game, coming down with 6.2 - 70% catch percentage. In those 5 games he averages 102.2 yards per game, averaging .6 TD/game.

AJ Green had a 3/4 year stretch where he was a top 5 wr. Made 2 2nd team all pros. And he did that with plenty of other weapons around him

Higgins is part of a super pass heavy offense where he is the 2nd  option. Also, the league is a lot more pass heavy than it was 2012-2015. You have to account for the era

either way, this is embarassing on your part

AJ Green would be a HOF if not for injury. Dude finished on ir 3 out of 4 seasons between 2016 and 2019.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

He was tracking to be one of the best wide recievers of his generation until injuries derailed him.

AJ Green got 708 opportunities to catch a pass in his first 5 season. Tee Higgins has had 512. Don’t talk about pass heavy.

Joe burrow has averaged 36.9 passes per game, Andy dalton attempted 32.4/game through his first five years.

Tee has a 20% target share vs greens 28%.

What facts can you bring up to actually back any claim you are trying to make?

It’s not black and white, but when you dig into and peel back the layers, it’s much closer than it appears Higgins v Green, on a per game or impact per target basis.

It’s hard to find players in their peak, switch teams and go from a player, like dalton, to a player like burrow. But here are three examples of similarly, or more, productive receivers and how they were before/after. The WR makes a QB better. The QB doesn’t have a direct correlation to the WR productivity.

HOF WR 1
123 catches -1,553 yards -11TD (probowl, first team all pro)
100 catches - 1,516 yards - 14TD (probowl, first team all pro)

One season he was catching passes from an MVP Super Bowl winning QB, the next was from an Andy Daltonish kind of QB.

HOF WR 2
111 catches - 1,239 yards - 9 TD (Probowl)
119 catches - 1,710 yards - 7 TD (Probowl, first team all pro)

One season he was catching passes from an MVP Super Bowl winning QB, the next was from an Andy Daltonish kind of QB.

HOF WR 3
67 catches - 1,157 yards - 8 TD (Probowl)
70 catches - 1,006 yards - 13 TD

One season he was catching passes from an Andy DaltonishbQB, the next was from an MVP Super Bowl winning QB.

The difference between AJ Green and Tee Higgins is a small but significant one. AJ had just a little more speed to beat corners deep.

Tee is just as good as AJ was on most of the routes like slants, 5/10 yard curls & outs etc. Tee is better going across the middle and making catches through big hits but AJ was just one of the best go ball receivers in the NFL for a stretch.

Neither particularly fast. Maybe green had better ball tracking where Higgins is better boxing out. Both 4.5 guys and their documented fastest MPH in a game is relatively close 20.84 for Higgins v Steelers 2023 and 20.5 v Texans in 2017. Likely green would have an edge here, but it’s close(ish).

Speaking of Hall of Fame Bengals players that I used to love but haven't been able to tolerate since he let Drew Rosendouche to convince him to hold out, Chad Johnson is calling the tag "disrespecful" and is shitting on the club:

Quote:"It's disrespectful. All it's saying is the first year, you tagged me. Okay. You want me to bet on myself," Johnson said on the show. "See if I can repeat it and do it again the second time you tag me, it's like when you like a girl, you're interested in her, and she put you in the friend zone."

"I love Tee Higgins. I love the Bengals. I love the organization," Johnson noted. "But if you don't value him long term. Why even play this game? Let him go, let him walk."

They tried to get a long-term deal done and they're still trying, but the franchise tag just gives them more time (until July 15th), you tardball.

Tee also needs to realize that his success is tied to Burrow and how will he perform without Burrow throwing him the ball?

HIs agents are also the agents for Chase, so don't you think they're trying to work things out for him first?

A receivers stats are more indicative of opportunity share vs QB.

Take Ceedee lamb for example. His YPG was 82.5 v 76.3.

If Higgins were air dropped into LAC, for example, he would likely put up better stats with a higher target share.

Tee's success is tied to Joe Burrow? Tee has played with other QBs and acquitted himself quite nicely. Hell... You ever notice Trevor Lawrence hasn't seemed like a "generational talent" since he left Clemson? Who was his guy there?

AJ was faster he could stack DBs with his release and had some explosive steps to create separation off his double moves. It's why he was one of the top deep ball receivers in the NFL.

I love Tiggins, but he's a 13-17 WR right now. Which isn't bad at all because he's a clear #2. I don't know why this is even an argument...

Agree with Nicomo here. I like Tee a lot after last year, but even when healthy AJ Green was maybe our best, most talented WR besides Ja'Marr
since Isaac Curtis IMO. AJ had rare speed with another gear when he was in pads, something Tee doesn't sniff and was the same size but tougher.

Not a Dalton hater or Dalton gang member, but an accurate clutch Burrow would up AJ's game quite a bit.

Of those players, which ones are up for contracts in the next couple years?

The answer is Tee and Chase.

If there were more draft hits than those two things would be different.

If say, the year after they drafted Chase they drafted an all pro corner or dlineman, I’d say give Tee’s money to that player. But it’s not reality.

If they drafted better, there would be a great argument not to sign Tee.
Because they haven’t, it forces their hand because you have to sign the players that you hit on and then add to that via free agency.

Brady didn’t do it for Evans (WR3), Rodgers didn’t do it for Adams (WR1), Mahomes didn’t do it for Hill (WR2).
