Tee’s market price (Update: 3 March 25, Tee has been tagged again)
(Yesterday, 12:37 AM)007BengalsFan Wrote: What?  In the three years since he left Green Bay, Adams has put up 3723 yards with 30 TDs.   In that same time period the last 3 years, Tee has put up 2596 yards with 22 TDs.

(Yesterday, 01:43 AM)Bengalbug Wrote: You would need to compare Adams since he left vs Adams when he was in GB.

321 - 3,924 - 34 (GB 2019-2021)
288 - 3,723 - 30 (LV and NYJ 2022-2024)

One caveat is he has played in a handful of more games, the last 3 years v the previous three.  But he is also not 26-28, and these were age 29-32 years.  Drop off is normal, but he is still a dang good football player.

If you could bring Adams in for 2 years, while concurrently flipping Higgins for players/assets at a potentially discounted contract… I could believe that as a cake and eat it too scenario.  If you can’t get value for Tee, I’ll take tee over Adams in a vacuum.

A couple of thoughts:

1) Comparing Tee's production to that of Adams is probably not a fair comparison. Tee has had to share the table with Chase. Adams basically took all of Renfro's targets when he came in and averaged 160+ targets each year with Raiders.

2) Having lived through the TO debacle, which I still believe was a major factor in Carson's decision to leave - I am leery of bringing in a outside receiver.

I know Adams is not poisonous as TO and Burrow is not Carson, but nonetheless; we are in a critical and sensitive juncture with our offense. It may work, but I am not sure we should risk it.

Bringing in a guy who has been the top dog and expecting him to accept the #2 spot behind Chase is a big gamble. This also speaks volumes about Tee's character, in that he was drafted to be our replacement for AJ Green as the #1. But once Chase was drafted, Tee accepted his #2 role and has been a great partner and Teammate.

So my thoughts are a big NO to Adams and hoping we keep Tee. If not, get Savion Williams in the draft.

1)we are not a critical juncture with our offense..burrow and whomever will give it 110% 2) I was around when Palmer was complaining and eventually left..had nothing to do with TO

I don't know that Trey is looking to re-set the market. If you can give him 2 additional years with a bump in pay, he seems like the kind of guy to take it.

Personally, i really don't want to watch a back to back 17.5 sack guy walk out the door.

He wouldn’t “walk”, it would be a trade. If reports are true, it’s $30m+ in AAV. It’s not a “bump”. I hope the bengals can figure something out to keep him, but make no mistake, he wants to be compensated on his last two years production.

Yup! You would think that they learned their lesson after letting the All-Pro S leave for ATL. They're going backwards as far as building a good defense. JB said it all when he said that you can't let players like that get out of the building.

Right

If they lose Trey our defense goes from needing a lot of help to a total crisis situation.

Javon Hargrave would be a good get for the Bengals who desperately need starting defensive & offensive line.

Edit: We need a Free Agency/Trade open thread lol.

By walk, i mean literally walk out the door. Go to another team. Bengals need to start figuring things out and find a way to keep their talented players. Giving them up for picks or a player who has produced at a lower level doesn't excite me.

With the way things seem to have gone in recent years, you may as well expect to leave if you do TOO well, as you won't be getting a top-end contract...unless you're the starting QB.
You only may get re-signed to the Bengals if you have just solid but not great production.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Doesn’t sound like negotiations are going well for any of the big 3.

Colour me surprised.

Chase draws the double teams away from Tee.

Both are amongst the Bengals WR greats but AJ is definitely above Tee on the list imho.

You know it Go Cards. Rock On

Sounds like a perfect pick up for us now that Javon is healthy.

So DK wants out of Seattle and they are releasing Lockett
Does a Higgins for Metcalf trade work somehow?
They will have to need another WR if both of those guys are leaving

I will say, the fact that Tee hasn't requested a trade (again) so far is a decent sign...or maybe he just knows the Bengals wont trade him so its a waste of time.

I think you were right on Trey being the one they trade even if TLL thought you were at happy hour Weezy. Wink

Thanks but maybe not…
Just saw that for 2025 his base salary is $18 million but his cap hit is $31 million!
Someone please explain if that would be the hit for the Bengals if they got him. Either way I guess they could restructure.

Yes the worst case scenario is having him play under the franchise tag this year then he walks next off season and the Bengals get nothing for him.
If they can’t get the deal done then they 100% need to trade him.

Would definitely have to restructure that hit, that is for damn sure if we made the trade.

For sure. We want him happy if he is here and he misses games anyway every year. Trade the man if we cannot get him extended.
