Why wouldn't Washington just draft an Edge rusher in the first and second round then? Which is exactly what we would do if that deal with Washington (but not Cleveland) did happen. You get two players who are likely to be very good (in a draft with many DLine players), one for 4 years, the other (better) player for 5. And you're paying way less cap money.

Hey, I'm not against talking out the idea of trading guys at their height. I know it can tough to do because as a fan you feel like you are betraying the players you love to watch but sometimes it makes sense for the team if you can get good value for them. I just don't think Washington would take that deal.

Because there is no guarantee that player(s) are going to be a superstar as a rookie. Proven players command high draft capital in trade because they are just that, proven, verifiable commodities that can be trusted under normal circumstances to deliver expected results; where as draft picks may look great as prospects, there's always the chance that they fail to launch.

For a team who is only a player or two from feeling complete to make that title run, proven vet acquisitions are definitely the way to go. For a team with many holes, like the Bengals, not so much..

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Maybe the Bengals should give them Chase Brown and a first for Nick Chubbs as well?

Hilarious

You are in the extreme minority with that sizzling hot take. Over the last 5 years Myles Garrett is a 5x Pro Bowler, 1x 2nd Team All-Pro, 4x 1st Team All-Pro, and 1x DPoY. He has also never had a year where he played less snaps than Hendrickson and the only year he failed to get double-digit sacks in his career was his rookie year. He's a first ballot HoFer.

I still don't like the trade because of the draft picks we'd have to give up and I would rather keep Hendrickson and all our picks and just spend money in FA to sign Josh Sweat... but Garrett is absolutely better than Hendrickson.

What are the chances a rookie Edge @ pick 29 or 61 is going to lead the league in sacks.  Washington would become the NFC favorites with Trey on thier team. You are undervaluing Trey!

No, I wouldn't trade Trey if I can avoid it but if a situation comes up to where I have to trade then a first Rd pick and 2nd rd pick seems fair.

If  Crosby can get multiple firsts, if Watt can get multiple firsts, and Garrett is supposed to fetch multiple firsts then Trey can get a first and second.

Right

Would I love to have Garrett? Yes, duh But like you and others have said. We've got way too much work to do and holes to fill to go giving away a bunch of draft picks.

With out any doubt.

Trey is very good/great and I so hope we retain him. But Garrett is, like you say, a total game changer/wrecker and HOFer.

I'd love to get Garrett. But we're to many players away to mortgage our lives away with one roll of the dice.

Two other trade proposals for Garrett(OP is not endorsing  trades) of would you say no!

Washington- Trey Hendrickson DE Bengals
Bengals Myles Garrett, + Washington 1st(29th),+ Washington 2nd(61st)
Browns- Bengals first(17th), Bengals 2026 first, Chase Brown or Kris Jenkins + 3rd Rd pick in 2027

Bengals- Myles Garrett( and he agrees to team friendly deal and structure & Trey does as well)( don't judge the realism of it just go with the flow)
Browns- Bengals first, Bengals first in 2026, 2027 3rd rd pick, and Kris Jenkins DT

Garrett is equal or less than Trey, but they are giving up a promising 2nd round pick, and future picks? I get that Garrett e is younger, but also having foot issues, which is never good for a big man.

I usually agree with you BengalRugby but not here. Garrett is better than Hendrickson by a good amount and is a much better run
stopper while being just as good of a pass rusher. If Garrett's feet didn't get better as the last season went on, I would agree that
that is a big problem for the future but his foot issues got better.

I would argue Hendrickson produces more, with less help.

But we will see about that, and the foot, next year.

I do know Garrett wins the Halloween costume competition...

So being okay with a good QB only rules out about 6 teams.  :)

I'd imagine Myles definition of good differs from ours. I did dig it was a huge slap in the fact to Watson

Don't get me wrong he's absurdly talented and a HoFer, and I wouldn't turn down him joining the team to win a SB, but it's also too late for me to like him as a person anymore.

You don't have to dump on your teammate.... but you also don't have to go in front of cameras and microphones and call Bill Cosby Jr a model citizen.

There's a world of middle ground of still being a good teammate between adamantly defending Watson and publically dumping on Watson. He chose to ignore all of it. Note the only two people who publicly rallied to Watson were Winston (who also has his own murky past in that category) and Garrett. Everyone else on the team kept their mouths closed.
