Therein lies the problem, Tee wants a contract for the max that his talent at his position will allow for, but the Bengals have another who is even more talented that is going to get an even bigger bag. The Bengals also have the man with the most sacks in the league the past couple years, and he needs a raise as well. Joe Burrow is a true franchise QB, give him JaMarr Chase and also elevate the other talent around him, similar to how Tom Brady and Pat Mahommes operated.

Because there's literally nothing going on between the Super Bowl and Combine lol.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Awesome, did not know this. All I know is that if Tee is brought back on an extension it needs to be incentive laden on how healthy he is.
If he stays healthy, he makes much more money, if he is injured all the time it doesn't cost us a ton. This way we can make all our extensions while
upgrading the trenches on both sides of the ball without Tee's extension hurting any of it. Ja'Marr will have to be paid huge, but he deserves it.

I see no problem with him doing that he's been a solid WR for quite a while.

Where’s the Slayton talk coming from? Fan wishes or legit FA whispers?

Yeah, I am a bit curious about that too. Whole lot of folks mentioning just him.
Personally I am on team Josh Palmer plus bringing Boyd back for a year. Both combined are projected to be ~$8m meaning even if you trade for a Noah Fant ($9m) or Kyle Pitts ($10m) at TE (or sign Mark Andrews if he gets cut) you're still at $17-18m, which is a good $8-9m shy of a Tee tag and that savings can be spent on OL and DL, but still gives you two solid WRs and a TE that add needed depth to the supporting cast behind Chase. We have our quality in Chase, now we need some (NFL starting caliber) quantity supporting him. Since you already have an elite guy, with Burrow throwing the ball 3 good guys plus money for trench upgrades is better than 1 really good guy and 2 scrubs.

Solid is a low bar.

No, he doesn't. He's just been playing in an offense that can't move the ball with a rather mediocre QB.

He might not stink but he isn't good enough to replace Tee by himself.

Are you sure? Perhaps getting thrown balls from Joe Burrow rather than Daniel Jones, Slayton might actually look like the player he was drafted to be? FYI, he doesn't have to be a "Higgins clone" to fulfil a vital role in the offense, just means that the offense will have a different wrinkle to it.

And that’s a good thing. Tee goes down, again, and you’re missing a vital piece for another extended period of time. Slayton doesn’t miss games, half the price and allows a few other assets to be added to the game. RB, TE etc like Sunset said ‘ a few more wrinkles’. He could be an even more valuable piece.

He was a 5th round pick, who is a depth piece on the back end of a WR room. He looks exactly like what he was drafted to be. At best he could be a 3, but he certainly isn’t a 2.

Half the price, 1/4 the player. This is how you end up letting allpro/probowl type guys leave and fill them with average dudes getting paid a premium.

Slayton isn't a "depth piece" he's been the starter for a few years. Just because you don't like him does not mean that you need to make shit up to tear him down.

Mentioning him as any sort of Tee Higgins replacement is making shit up. You could talk about him being an upgrade (albeit small), to Andre Iosivas. You could say a clear upgrade to Burton or Jones. Only Cincinnati would
Think that Slayton could be a Higgins replacement. He is just a guy.

You don’t see many Pro Bowlers playing 12 games a season I wouldn’t have thought. The best ability thing you know.
Paying the biggest WR contract shortly for Ja’Marr and then paying a 2 WR top dollar for a number 1 receiver on top of that doesn’t seem that smart to me.

I didn't say Higgins "replacement", as there is no other Higgins out there. I'm saying Slayton could be a good option for the Bengals offense to take a turn from what everyone in the league already has film on. Let Burrow elevate him, your opinion of him might change? Either way, the Bengals offense needs to make a change, the OL needs improvement and the game plan needs to feature more effective runs in typical run situations. Defense or no defense, the Bengals weren't going to win a Superbowl by doing the same thing.

That’s fine. Paying 12-16m for Slayton isn’t smart either.

That's odd, the post you replied to never even mentioned Slayton.
