The Raiders Are Shopping Mayer!
#41
If they can get him for a mid/lower round draft pick, do it. He has some athleticism and he looks like a load to bring down.

Exactly. And he's athletic as hell, as well as smart.

CincyJungle mentioned it as a possibility yesterday and I think the idea could pick up steam.

Sports Illustrated also thinks it's a good idea for a fifth round pick, and even Yahoo and other sites are saying it's a good move.

And about drafting Bowers, the value was just too good for the Raiders to pass up, but the potential value of bringing Mayer home is too good to pass up.

I'm excited about this because I think he'd help Burrow win a Super Bowl!

He has been in the league for 2 years and has done nothing, has already lost his starting job, has already left the team for personal reasons. When playing, he has not been dynamic or a game changer.

Raider need to keep him, have an actual productive season, and then trade him in 2026. Because they'd be selling at an all time low right now.

maybe Burton? lol

He hasn't had the chance to really break out because Bower came in after his rookie year but he'd kill it with Burrow throwing him the ball!

It would also open up our draft a lot!

Trade them Higgins for Mayer and a 4th or 5th rounder.

Lucky for us he didn't do well for them but I think he could be really good with us.

No offense, but that's not enough compensation for Higgins.

Raiders will likely take a Day 3 pick for Mayer given they have Bowers in front of him.
Mayer for a 4th or 5th rounder seems fair to me, as Mayer only has 2-3 years left on his contract.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

You are a funny guy Brad. I would be okay with bringing him in, but it would have to be for a 6th or 7th round pick and we only have 6 picks
in this Draft so I am not in a hurry to give any away. As a matter of fact, I am for doing trade backs to add more picks. Don't like trading Tee
unless we get more than a 4th or 5th either. More like a couple 2nd rounders.

They aren’t remotely interested in Mayer. Zip nada. They will resign Gesicki and have Sample and All.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

They do not “have” All. He shouldn’t even be factored into their plans.

To both of you, definite error on my part but I was just thinking that we need to at least get something out of Higgins, especially if we don't sign him to a long-term deal, which I still don't think we should.

That's interesting but they did pass on him in the draft. Gesicki is fine, imo, but i wonder if they would be interested if Warren fell to them @17?

With All's 2024 injury and history, All should be seen solely as a luxury item at this point.

Gesicki is a great receiving TE but does little blocking and likely won't be back for more than a year or two if returning at all.
Sample a blocking pony, not really any threat as a receiver. Dude clunky AF.

They need another TE who can be at least a pass catching threat if not do-it-all in case All doesn't end up being able to get past his injuries.

While I'd love for them to go after one of Warren, Loveland, or Taylor, I feel like Mitchell Evans out of ND would fit their offense well if they want someone like All who could be available early Day 3 of the draft.
Evans showed out better than I thought he would at the Combine, and his game film shows a do-it-all TE.

Yeah, we need to get something for Tee if we trade him that is for sure.

Hoping for at least a 2nd round pick. Mayer and a 2nd from the Raiders and I would be more than fine with it.

Or Loveland. They evidently wanted Kincaid, Loveland is more like Kincaid than Warren is even if I personally like Warren more.

To Raiders: Tee, our 1st, and our 4th
To Bengals: Raiders 1st, Mayer

Then we can take our pick of some real blue chips in the 1st since there's almost certainly going to be 2 QBs picked in the top 5, meaning we'd get the 4th pick of all the non-QB talent in the draft.

- - - - -
(If you're wondering on the trade value chart, the difference between our 1st and their 1st is 650 points, and the Raiders 2nd is worth 530, hence our 4th which is worth 58. It would value Tee at roughly between the 33rd and 34th pick assuming we're saying Mayer is roughly our 6th rd pick. We come out ahead value-wise, but the Raiders finish with 2 picks instead of 1 so the sting of the slight value loss for them isn't so bad.)

If we feel the need to trade for a TE, I would rather go after Kyle Pitts. I think we re-sign Gesicki and draft a TE again this year. It's a shame about Eric All, I think his career may be over, even if he gets back on the field, durability will be an issue, just like it was with Eifert. I wish All the best but if he comes back, I'll be holding my breath with every hit he takes going forward.

Well done, would be even more fine with this obviously, good job TLL. Rock On
