Positions don't win championships. Organizations win championships. There were two very fine WRs and the top RB in the league on the team that dump trucked the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

To Goalpost, Trey had a 65.1 run stopping grade last year. Seems way high to me, he was pretty bad against the run.

I wasn't very optimistic with Trey coming back, so trade for a late round 1st or a 2nd and hit the Dline in FA. Sweat is not going to cost you 30 million and he's younger, heck go over after him, Milt Williams or Allen or Chase Young and draft a DT or DE in the first and hopefully more Defense with the Trey draft pick. This is not the end of the world if the FO invests in FA towards the DL, which they will have to. Say we get a 2nd for Trey you now have 17 and two seconds to get defense and a OL. Hopefully if Trey is traded they finally sign Tee and Chase. The only kicker i see in this is that we are talking the Bengals FO! Hopefully

An All Pro guard isnt the same value as an All Pro defensive end.  Thuney is also a couple of years older than Hendrickson.  Hendrickson will fetch a higher draft pick(s)

And Crosby is 27. That matters...a lot.

I would look to the Hasson Reddick trade compensation by the Eagles as a good direction for what he could fetch.

They didnt dump truck the Chiefs because of their offense.  Credit their defense which was the #1 defense in the NFL.

Lol now people coping with him leaving by saying he’s overrated due to his run defense

Same thing happened when Bates and Reader weren’t signed. “Well they aren’t that good anyways”

I would say that lane responsibility is an issue with him at times.

"Just hit on a DE in the draft."

11 Bengals DL picks in the Taylor era...
Kris Jenkins
McKinnley Jackson
Cedric Johnson
Myles Murphy
Zachary Carter
Joseph Ossai
Cameron Sample
Tyler Shelvin
Wyatt Hubert
Khalid Kareem
Renell Wren

You're looking at a career combined 25.5 sacks in 254 games (9.5 of them by Ossai).

Genuinely contemplating not coming over next year for the first time since 2017.

Spending thousands for a couple of weeks when the FO seem hell bent on not winning.

Nice post. We can add more players to the Defense in FA with this news. I was afraid we were going to pay all 3 of these guys and
not do anything in FA because of it. We need a couple Guards and now a couple DL and this is a deep Draft for DL as well. Trey for
Jonathan Allen in a trade with Washington and bringing in Josh Sweat would be a fantastic start.

True.

Sure does. If we paid Trey 35 mil per year and he started falling off this year it could of been really bad...

So let me get this straight... It’s ok to let Hendrickson walk because they can just draft a DE

...but injury proned number 2 receiver Tee Higgins is irreplaceable?

He was 22nd amongst DE's on running down snaps for the season ( 273) so yeah him being on the sideline for running plays is ideal.

I think Cedric Johnson is the real sleeper here. I think he could end up being really good.

In the previous defense.......

Golden produces pressure with his linebackers, stunting and twisting and mis-direction, while his DL pushes the pocket into the QB to keep him from escaping.  He doesn't count on generating pressure from the DE.

I think I said in another threads that the trend line for pass rushers beyond 30 drops like a rock and gave a bunch of examples. I have been firmly in the camp of you do what needs to be done with Jamar but you probably move on from the other two with a slight lean to Tee over Trey if you HAVE to keep one. We did this with Geno where we paid him at 30 and he bombed, sure sometimes there are outliers, but the data backs not committing long term to pass rushers over 30.

It is what it is. It sucks because we have been so bad at finding someone to go with him. This means we have to get one in FA and then probably still swing at one in the draft.
