Awesome.
And I have never heard anyone other than Nicoma say that Elly is an amazing SS. Outside of Reds coaches or officials, I'm not sure where to look for or find this "serious and decent sized contingent" that claims any of this.
Fantasy stats? I don't think I have ever talked fantasy points in here. Also not quite sure what I did to you to make you be so hostile.

Looks like McLain is leading off tonight with Friedl getting a night off. Lodolo is on the Paternity list through the weekend. He was supposed to start on Sunday so we'll see what they do there.

It's nice to win the first one. Winning series at Baltimore would be Reds playing good ball, because Baltimore is not easy to beat in Baltimore over the last couple years.

I guess realistically he wasn't going to keep a 0.98 ERA all year and Greene was due a little bit of an equalizer.
Just hope that inning is out of his system now, because 2 HR and 2 HBP is not great.
Got the lead back, now time to lock back in.

Nice to see Fraley show a bit of power. He's actually bouncing back and is around league average now, which is a big difference from his start.
Also seriously, Candelario isn't some blazing fast base stealer. Getting picked off base is frustrating, but a slow guy getting picked off is enraging. Made worse by two doubles following that.

Why is Candelario in a major league lineup? What’s his problem?
Edit, update: Still useless.

Here's my short take on EDLC for what it's worth:
Elly is a hell of a natural athlete, duh. Fast, quick, jumping, range, and then you add in the cannon arm. He's going to get a lot of outs not very many others are at SS. But there's also errors he's going to get that others wouldn't because he got there and they would have just watched it go by and I'm NOT making excuses for him. But it is still a factor.
However, he has a bunch, to say the least, of errors that are just him messing up. Part of that is he's just a very young player. The question is can he/will he get better quickly enough to keep him at SS.
I lean pretty hard towards no. His profile just screams RF and or CF.

Austin Wynns has me wondering if he can play first base or maybe let Stephenson come back slowly by playing first base.

That's a nice Series Win at Baltimore. Cincinnati often struggles against American League East of Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, Blue Jays, Rays.
Many are having fun over Reds 24 to 2 Win today. I like that it was a Series Win. I like that Reds are close to 1st Place in NL Central on April 20th.
Keep it going, and have a good April.
Now win at Florida Marlins. The only stat that really matters is Reds are only 2 games out of 1st Place. GO REDS

#8 and #9 hitters Marte and Wynns
11 for 14 - 5 runs scored - 13 RBI
Currently Wynns' OPS is 1.227 and Marte is now hitting .316.
What an opening week for Austin Hays who went 4 for 6 with a walk today.
6 games - 12 for 28 - .429
1 2B - 3 HR - 8 RBI - 2 BB - 6 K
Hays and Lux each scored four times today as Lux was 2 for 4 with three walks.
Major props to Brent Suter. 63 pitches was about 43 more than I was expecting from him.
And congrats to Randy Wynne for notching his first save. He earned the call up with his 3.06 ERA in his four starts as most of the AAA starters are not doing well.
4.85 Drew Parrish (4 starts)
4.76 Chase Petty (4)
5.89 Aaron Wilkerson (4)
7.50 Carson Spiers gave up five runs in seven innings in his one start
4.15 Sam Benshoter in one start and four relief appearances
3.60 Andrew Abbott in two rehab starts.
Steer with two much needed hits. I believe that this was Steer's first game in the field. I hope that this is his spark.
And, even though he didn't play today and they lost yesterday, Matt McLain may not be my favorite Reds player anymore. Jose Trevino plays winning baseball and that goes a looooooong way in earning my fandom. He's great at receiving the young pitchers and has been outstanding at the plate.

Some guys are (or might be) starting to come along, which is nice to see.
Right now, I see the locked heavy contributors are EDLC, McLain, Friedl, Lux, Fraley, Trevino/Wynns.
Hays showed a lot in the few games he's played, so I expect he'll get in there often as well.
I like what I've seen in Espinal from a contact standpoint as a utility guy.
The guys who still need to get going are Candelario (occasional HR won't change my mind), CES, and Steer.
Marte as well, but yesterday's game helped him a ton stat-wise.
Once Stephenson comes back, you have to wonder if he may end up claiming 1B/DH a decent amount too, as there's no reason to relegate Trevino and Wynns to the bench.
CES and Steer need to worry about potentially getting demoted to AAA if they don't start picking it up soon.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yep, you beat me to it. I understand this is a very young season and I've heard the announcers sayind Candy man is a notoriously slow starter. But we can't afford to regularly play a guy batting .130 or whatever no matter how much he makes? for 1 HR and 1 RBI every 15 games. Trade his ass, designate him for assignment or something?
I'm giving Steer a bit of leeway still. But CES has got to step it up as well. I'm not sold that Marte is fixed, but hoping he's gained some confidence. But these guys have got to step it up. Got to

We can't keep CES there batting .150 for another month. And I wonder sometimes if those 10 day IL's aren't just relax a bit, get your head straight. Instead of true injuries?

CES drives me crazy as a prospect. His entire minor league career indicates that he should have success in the major leagues.
The one major outlier he had in the minor leagues was he was a notorious "bad ball hitter." He swung at balls out of the zone at a disproportionate rate. It worked in the minors because he was facing inferior pitchers, but the caveat attached to him was always that he'd have to improve his eye in the majors because it is much harder to get quality contact on pitches outside the zone against major league pitchers.
It is evident that he has not been able to make that adjustment.
Or, alternatively, he is just injured all the time. He looked good in spring training and in the first 3 games of the season before (again) being hit in the hand in game 4. It makes me wonder if that is affecting him either physically, mentally, or both.

Lowder is due to be off the DL today. Stephenson is still a week away. Even though the Reds have 6 more on the road to play, it's with Miami and Colorado. Colorado checks in at 4-17 this morning.
