Is Shemar holding out?
(8 hours ago)kevin Wrote: Super Bowl teams say it begins start of training camp.  Bengals as usual will not be ready for week 1.  Bengals are only NFL team that hasn't signed their #1 draft pick.  Heads will hang low as Cleveland beats Bengals in the trenches and Cleveland hands Bengals yet another start of season loss.  Bengals are never ready to play in September, and thanks to Mike Brown and Family they will not be ready this September.  Whoever is at QB for Cleveland will have all day to throw and will destroy the Bengals who will have no pass rush.

Mike Brown and Family have the idea that they paid Burrow, Chase, Higgins and that's all they need.  WRONG.  Bengals will get beat bad on defense, and you can't win if the defense stinks.  Could have used Hendrickson or at least the top draft pick, but Mike Brown & Family aren't even negotiating, Bengals just won't have either of them.  Well, Mike Brown is more famous for 4 win seasons than he is for play-off winning seasons.

The sad thing is that with a good defense the Bengals could go back to Super Bowl.  Even Mahomes of Chiefs say he hopes Bengals don't sign Hendrickson or the #1 pick, because Bengals would be hard to beat if they had a god defense.   Mike Brown & Family should be thinking Super Bowl, but they aren't, and we can see they aren't.

They won't even win at Cleveland. In fact they might get clobbered. Bengals take their normal loss in week 1.  Cleveland 34, Bengals 20 and another 0-1 start as usual.

You have to love fans who quit on the team in mid July. Hell, we should just cut everyone and save millions now. Why even try to win if you are a coach or fan, fans already quit on the team and have no faith in them.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

With Burrow, this team will never be really bad. They know that they can field a middle-tier roster and win 8-9 games with Burrow. Then, if things break right win 11-12 games and maybe make a playoff run. That's precisely why you keep Tee and Chase. Have a high-powered offense.

But, yes...they aren't going to spend every penny to make a great offensive line and defense. They're going to rely on unproven young guys to take a leap. It hasn't worked.

And teams like the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, and Steelers aggressively try to improve their rosters.

Yes..you are correct..I sat in on meetings with Mike, Katie, Elizabeth and Zac. and was made aware of a complete lack of football knowledge and business accumen..Their only goal was to field a .500 team..and interestingly..both Burrow and Chase later came to said meeting and could not have been happier to realize that the intentions if the Brown family was to field a mediocre roster

Are you for real man...the team ..the past four years has one of the better winning percentages in the nfl...burrow was injured in 2023..in 2024..as he admitted he was still fighting a lingering injury...we had a boatload of injuries additionally in 2024..including our two starting offensive tackles..starting running back and numerous defensive starter etc...and still managed a winning season..

Again..you may not like the changes made but in fact the team..started to address deficiencies by firing their defensive and offensive line coaches immediately when the season ended

And in the draft and FA focused on both the defense and offensive line..Maybe not the players you wanted but too bad..It is just terrible that the team did not sign some big name players in their thirties that are in the tail end of their careers and overpriced

Not a single game has been played..training camp has not even started..we cant even begin to determine if the aforementioned changes will prove to be positive or not..and you are already doom and gloom

This nonsense with hendickson is just that..He signed a contract extension a few years back and should honor it ..Regardless..the defense stunk even with Hendrickson and if the younger players, the drafted players..FAs signed..and Golden do not turn it around..it will not matter if Hendickson js here or not

And as an estute football fan..you also know that the roster is not yet complete..there Will bemany really good players that will be cut by various teams in summer camp and some may be acquired by the bengals.

I sometimes cannot believe the hypocrisy..You all clamor for Brown to keep Burrow, Higgins, Chase..he spends zillions of bucks to do so and then refer to him as cheap a couple of months later

I think ..should injuries not obliterate this team once again...its going to be a very good year for the bengals...have a great afternoon

Bengals FO will never win with you.

I'm thinking you might be having trouble with comprehension. Also, don't get so mad, it's just a message board.

I'll try to spell it out better.

1. Bengals could have signed Tee and Ja'marr earlier than they did, for less money (see that, i'm not advocating they just spend more money), helping the salary cap in the future.
2. Bengals could have handled Trey better and signed him to a longer contract for less money than they have to pay now (what do you know, another example of me wanting the FO to help themselves by spending less money), helping the salary cap in the future.

PoI:
1. I want the Bengals to be a smart front office.
2. I want the Bengals to sign players to fair (and team friendly when possible) deals, to avoid contract disputes.
3. I don't want the Bengals to end up in cap hell, ala, the Saints.
4. I want the Bengals to win.

I'm not 'in it to win it' by bashing the FO. I bash the FO because they deserve it.

Excellent post. Couldn’t agree more. Again I share my comparison. The Bengals are like the poker player in your group who dutifully antes. But he folds most of the time but when he doesn’t you know he’s got a great hand. He wins but the pot isn’t big because everybody knows he’s got a great hand. So he never goes home the big winner or big loser for the night.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

New wrinkle:

“It’s clear that Shemar, based on precedent, feels like he can’t take the Bengals’ deal right now,” Fowler began. He then explained:

From my understanding of the language and the contract, they’re essentially, in some areas, asking him to take a pay decrease from where last year’s number 17 pick, Dallas Turner in Minnesota, got with certain bonuses. Usually those numbers go up every year, as far as the percentage guarantee. His, to my understanding, was going down. So that’s problematic, and it’s something he isn’t willing to accept.

So, Bengals being cheap again?

I'm so surprised...
