Buckner and __ for Trey?

Buckner may be the better and more complete player. Especially for AFCN football.

This is interesting and something I really hadn't thought about completely. So they agreed on yearly average and number of years ( according to reports ) but are failing to meet on guaranteed money. Originally hearing the 3rd year even had me apprehensive. I knew the contract included this year as you can use this year to spread out the new money to make the cap hit less over the 3yr extension. But if the guaranteed money starts now than its even less scary because Trey will only be 32.

Deals that make sense to me(some normal but some outlandish).

Normal sounding deal
Deal 1 Rams
Bengals send Trey + 2026 5th RD pick to Rams for Rams 2026 2nd RD pick + DT  Kobe Turner + Edge Byron Young

Deal 2 Broncos
Bengals send Trey Hendrickson to Broncos for DE/DT John Franklin Myers & 2026 2nd rd + 2027 5th RD pick

Deal 3 Colts
Bengals trade Trey to Colts for  G Quinton Nelson

Outlandish(more fun then realistic)( not sure how deal gets done because Cowboys just paid Osa this off-season)
Rams & Cowboys& Browns
Rams- Micah Parsons
Cowboys- 2 first RD picks, + Kobe Turner+ Trey Hendrickson + Bengals 5th RD pick
Bengals- Wyatt Teller RG Browns   , Osa Odigihzuwha DT Cowboys , Sam Williams Edge Cowboys ,
Browns- 2026 2nd rd pick Cowboys

Rams& Falcons
Rams- Trey Hendrickson
Bengals Kobe Turner, Byron Young,  FS Jessie Bates
Falcons - 2nd rd pick Rams & 5th RD pick Bengals

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Well, I kind of called it over the summer. It was gonna be hard to sign the big 3 once they sign chase and Higgins, and it sure seems like Trey has not moved at all from his demand where the bengals have come up.
So that doesn't surprise me

I'll believe Trey gets traded when I see it. Mike Brown said he will not be traded and believes they will get a deal done. Bengals are just trying to play hard ball.

I don't think Bengals would get what they want in a trade. Even if say a 1st rounder, do I trust them not to draft poorly? No.

He's not paying me and neither are the Bengals, so I don't care how the finances shake out. Yeah, I just want Trey to be playing here.

If they agreed on numbers and years than just give him the guaranteed money. If the Bengals are too poor than they need to sell they are holding the team back.

Here are some of the players the Bengals have not re-signed by year:

2025
The Bengals have not re-signed several players who have signed with other teams, including Joe Bachie (LB) and Khalil Herbert (RB) with the Indianapolis Colts, Trayveon Williams (RB) with the New England Patriots, Trent Brown (OT) with the Houston Texans, Jay Tufele (DT) with the New York Jets, and Akeem Davis-Gaither (LB) with the Arizona Cardinals. Sam Hubbard (DE) retired, while Alex Cappa (G) and Sheldon Rankins (DT) were released. Additionally, due to a contract dispute, the Bengals are reportedly listening to trade offers for Trey Hendrickson (DE).
2024
Notable players not re-signed in 2024 include Joe Mixon (RB), who was traded to the Houston Texans. Others who signed with different teams were DJ Reader (DT) and Hayden Hurst (TE) with the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers respectively, Chidobe Awuzie (CB) with the Tennessee Titans, Jonah Williams (OT) with the Arizona Cardinals, and Irv Smith Jr. (TE) with the Kansas City Chiefs.
2023
In 2023, the Bengals lost several key players, including Jessie Bates III (S) who signed with the Atlanta Falcons, Vonn Bell (S) and Hayden Hurst (TE) who signed with the Carolina Panthers, and Samaje Perine (RB) who signed with the Denver Broncos. Eli Apple (CB) also left in free agency.
This list includes some of the more notable players the Bengals could not retain.
I'm just curious: When you typed that 2025 list of superstars we didn't retain, did it ever cross your mind, "I'm really not making a good point here"?

There are 2 players of consequence on your list. Reader and Bates.

My point was very year we have problems with star players, that’s one player each year counting Hendricks.

By the way I didn’t type that list, I found it in the internet.

But if you want to go back in time, Carlson Palmer, Witworth, AJ Green to mention a few.

just to be clear....

Are we now going to have the same discussions about Trey vs. Bengals in this thread as we have been having in the existing 106-page thread?

Normally, I'd agree, but Trey will be 31 by season's end is any other team going to give him what he's asking for?

Would you come back if Trey busts this season?

I think this is a way to tell Trey that he's not going to get the big money that he's seeking.

I put it in here simply because the other Trey thread kind of died in my opinion and people were looking for updates (title of thread) stop looking as were no updates. Mods can do as they please pally.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!
