Hi all for transparency I was the one that went ahead and merged the two threads.  After reviewing the posts in the newer thread I felt it was the same type of discussion as the main thread on the topic.  Also there were similar cross disscussions in both threads on the recent issues.   So I felt a merge was appropriate.

You were actually answering.

The Bengals are an "embarrassment" because they signed Trey to a great contract. I want Trey to get paid; he's my favorite player, but c'mon.

There are 2 players of consequence on your list. Reader and Bates.

It looks like an AI-generated list. At least since the recent popularity of AI, every time I see this kind of summary information I assume someone typed a query into a search engine and let AI doe the work, rather than doing their own research and filtering it through their own brain.

It was my point and it does have the ability to speak.

They SHOULD trade Trey. I'm iterested in a high quality RG now & some sort of draft compensation for next season.

Trey wants nearly $100m guaranteed over 3 years at (nearly) age 31. It's ok to NOT do that deal and roll Trey's cash into other assets in the upcoming FA classes.

For this season, there's not any monster D Linemen laying around, but Trey's production could be made up in the aggregate performance of what the Bengals have.

45% of his sacks came against 2nd & 3rd stringers on 3 different teams spread out over 3 or 4 games. Trey was a great Bengal, and I get him wanting $100 mill (who wouldn't?), but that's too rich, IMO.

I am sick of the drama Trey has brought. He is under contract, I want him extended. But, the gambler in me ssays call Trey's agent bluff. Trey has a choice, extend and make a lot more money or sit and start losing 950K a game with the possibility the team rescinds their offer and his only option is the current deal or sit.

Bengals are and have been in the driver's seat the entire time. Yes, some fans will trash the FO, but they trash the FO already anyway, this just gives them a little more ammo. These same fans won't applaud the FO if they extend Trey, they will be butt hurt the team gave them a reason to worry about the 2025 season.

I get both sides and as fan I really like Trey. As a businessman and a fan, I see why they Bengals are hesitant to give a huge guarantee.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

That was supposed to be your point is moot. But I can thank spell checker and not reading my text before posting.

Players who sit out, never recover the money they lost by not playing. Throwing good money away. Take the best offer and move on.

I agree and why pressure is 100% on Trey and his agent. In 2 weeks, they could start losing 2025 contract money, both of them as agent gets a cut.

If he sits out and loses 16 mil this year, and makes 32 ml next year somewhere else, that comes to 16 mil a year. So yea, he loses big time. Take what you can get.

That is an assumption for Trey and his agent also. Bengals could tag him for less. 2025 DE tag was 22 million, add 10% and that is 24 million, not 32 million.

He's not paying me and neither are the Bengals, so I don't care how the finances shake out. Yeah, I just want Trey to be playing here.

I think they need to get a player to get a deal done.  Either a young defender with a lot of upside or a RG, obviously.

I think our chances at a title take a huge hit without Trey even if Stewart is the real deal.  Still, as things stand, RG is an even bigger problem.  They lack both talent AND depth.  They almost have to do something.  If you could turn Trey into a resolution to the OG problem, then it's better than nothing.

I'm so sick of this crap.

It feels like ownership is mocking Burrow.  You want to publicly force our hand to sign your friends?  We'll show you.  Good luck succeeding with a bad OL and no impact defensive player.

I put the chances of 9 trying to force his way out of Cincinnati after this season at about 32 percent if Trey leaves.  50 if he leaves and it's an obviously negative impact on the defense.

To me there is no excuse for the FO. People joke about the Browns ownership but if they had Burrow and Chase they'd have built a dynasty. They just have no idea what their doing. We are sitting here with 30 mil in cap space and a RG that gets flipped like a flap jack during practice possibly the worst safety duo in the NFL and we can't sign Trey. Figure out what your doing when you still have time to do something to help the team. They are going with a multi-year rebuild model and people are fine with this? News flash when Chase declines thats not helping Burrow we have a 5yr clock thats ticking right now. Trey is a back to back sack leader either pay him or know that your not going to pay him and trade him earlier like any competent front office would do.

For the Gesicki and Fants of the world where you've bounced around to 2-3 teams and had decent results. You can take a little less and bet on yourself. But Trey is the sack leader him and his agent need to be paid what that dictates. No other team in the NFL would mess this up like the Bengals have and its supposed to be Treys fault?
