We can only hope both sides can figure out the word compromise and get her done.

Ian Rapoport confirmed, this AM, that bengals sent a new contract offer to Trey within the last couple of days. Maybe they agreed on money and not years (bengals 2, Trey wanting more). With the Watt signing, maybe the bengals pushed it to 3, keeping AAV the same. I am just speculating, obviously.

"Trey Hendrickson, they're excellent edge rusher, sack leader in the NFL last year, still wants a new contract, still wants to get paid, set to make $16 million this year, not expected to play for that," Rapoport said on NFL Network. "At least a raise likely is coming. The Bengals have made several offers, including a recent one, over the course of the last couple of days. Today is a huge day for Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals."

It seems that while the public conversation has been very quiet, Ian Rappaport seems to beleive that the Bengals recently sent another offer to the Hendrickson camp. Let's just hope that it was a good enough offer to bring the two sides to the table for some serious negotiation.

Quote:The Cincinnati Bengals and star defensive end Trey Hendrickson continue to talk about a contract extension as training camp looms.

While nothing is done yet, it appears new offers at least keep getting sent.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday, the Bengals have sent at least one fresh offer to Hendrickson over the past few days.

Rapoport speculates that a contract extension could offer a big pay bump this year for the NFL’s reigning sack leader, although raises and guarantees into years beyond that remain a question mark.

As always, the impasse between the Bengals and Hendrickson stems from the team’s likely desire to limit risk on a long-term deal, whereas the player obviously wants as many guarantees as possible beyond this year.

While publicly messy at times as both parties used leverage available to them, this continues to pace toward Hendrickson and the Bengals reaching a compromise that works for both. The alternative is a team without one of the NFL’s best players and a player getting fined and harming his long-term value right in the middle of his prime by sitting out.

That sounds promising! Let's hope it gets done in the next couple of days.

Yeah, with Ossai and Murphy looking better as rotational guys and the Shemar Stewart drama, it really is time for the Bengals to sign Hendrickson and put an end to this madness.

Since Trey and his family reside in the Cincy area, I wonder if Mike B would just sent out the Cat Copter to lift him in for final negotiation?

If MB is optimistic, I am now as well. He is the king of privacy so easily could have defelected or said something like if is up to Trey now.

Looks like on Stewart Bengals are not going to change their offer.

Good. He's gonna bust anyway, so better they don't waste a dime + years on him.

I'm not going to bother posting them, but there has been flutter amongst several twitter insiders that a deal is close. One mentioned his interview with Trey was pushed back for "an urgent matter" and another mentioned that the deal is close.

Take it for what it is. I hope they're true, but I'm not falling for the same stuff we dealt with last off season with Tee.

Ricky the dog saying it could be done as early as this afternoon.

Obviously not counting chickens after the Chase **** up last offseason but sounds like we are 99% of the way there.

If Rickey is posting it, you can take it to the bank.

I have no idea who Rickey is but sounds like he is the new Bengals whisperer, only second to Pally.

He's called a boatload of signings around the league, before most of the usual suspects.

Are you being sarcastic? I don't know Rickey from Lucy so I have no idea how legitimate he is. Please tell me you're not being sarcastic. I trust you, dawg.

He’s got like one or two wrong in the past couple of years and he’s first well before Rap and Schefter.

If he says it’s happening you can near as dammit believe it.

He's not. Ricky popped up on the scene like last year or the year before and has been breaking news. He hinted that he works for one of the sports agencies.
