Trey Hendrickson Update
(8 hours ago)NUGDUKWE Wrote: I'm calm. I just genuinely don't understand your point with the post. He either gets signed or he doesn't. If he does the fines are meaningless.

Wrong

The training camp fines are mandatory as I listed and come back to our cap dollars in 2025.  To date, Trey is giving us back 298K in cap space. He will give 50K a day until game week #1 and then he will be fineed 950K a game, all manadatory and can't be waived by the team.

But hey, the great thing about our posts is you can ignore them and move on, your choice.

I guess that's true. We can add the total number to the unused cap number to really drive home the fact the Bengals are cheap to some of our thicker skulled fans.

FYI, it is also going to important to Trey. It adds uo quickly at 50K per day and then if he misses a game, it goes to 950K a week.  Wink

There are always 2 sides to negotiations, I don't think the Bengals are without blame. They are, but the difference between our opinions, is I feel the team is not 100% to blame every time there is a contract dispute.

Also, the cheap Bengals sure paid Chase the highest non foorball contract in the NFL and paid Tee very well. They paid Gesicki very well also. They have our entire team under contract for 2025 so now time to focus on winning games with those who decided they would honor their existing contracts.

They got guys paid and made them presumably very happy and yes they deserve credit for that. But they also at the same time it so far outside the average they took 16 million (i believe the number that was reported) off the table of money we could spend this year.

I don't assume they are wrong 100% of the time. But we have to use the knowledge of the past to evaluate the present at times and the Bengals haven't been great.

I think the deal gets done at some point. Not sure why we took a break from negotiations in the middle of the offseason but hopefully we can put this all behind us soon.

With the younger players showing great promise at the end of last year..the draft picks and the FAs...either al golden turns this defense around or he doesnt..all this emphasis on hendrickson , a singular player, is nonsensical..didnt he sign a contract extension prior to last year....but if it was me..he is a good player..I would give him raise and a two year guaranteed money contract..that is prudent and responsible..have a great day off to the golf course early trying to avoid some of the afternoon heat

The difference is (when) Trey signs the bashers will continue the bash the FO and label them cheap. The DIVAS in the forum just can't help but bring the drama to support their negative perceptiions.

Trey will play for us in 2025, in his hands if they is for $15.9 million - the fines or if he compromises and makes more. It takes two sides to agree to a deal, both have levrage, but Bengals have more since he is under contract and Trey in now paying them to sit on his ass in Florida.

Sometimes in negotiations, you just hit a brick wall and it's besr to set it aside for awhile and let both parties cool down and get a better perspective.

You said "us". Trey is under contract. You've stated that many times. He's part of "us". You on the Bengals payroll?

Nope just a loyal fan and you know what I meant. I have said in the fine update posts he is paying MB. So, not you and I are not getting a check, just more cap money as fans to fight over.

No. Not at all. You said "us". When i read that sentence, my first thought was Trey is part of the team, so he's "us". But he's only "us" to you, if you're picking a side and/or you're part of the organization and you considedr Trey an outsider.

Words matter dude. You could have easily just used "bengals" and there's no questions. I'm just clearing this up because you're fair, you look at both sides equally, you don't take sides and you don't make crap up.

The more time goes by and different stories of past players come to light I really think it's just another negative of the front office. I get that sometimes you can come to an impasse but that appears to be part of the Bengals strategy. Feels like we need to try and do a better job keeping communication lines open and not just drawing hard lines in the sand. They eventually caved and took a an extra 500k upfront of the signing bonus. Just makes you wonder if the Bengals offered a 60% 40% payout of the signing bonus instead of the 50/50 existing from the start would this whole thing been avoided?
