Same as 2023. Heck, same as always. Not going to get any help to actually make a push happen. Just going to sit put and see another .500-ish season while we look at our prospects as if they're all going to turn into superstars.

What’s up with these GD Cincy front offices absolutely loving ONLY the guys they “have in the building”?

Votto hasn't been around for two years now. I think it's time to stop randomly blaming our only future HoFer for other players failures (and even failures is a bit harsh in this instance because Steer with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd is a career .533 hitter with 14 RBI in 15 AB, it's almost like baseball is a game of low success).

Yeah, that's awesome except that's not what I was talking about.

Great numbers by Steer, but he's 0 for 1 with a strikeout looking when facing a pitcher with 9 consecutive quality starts(7 of the 9 with 1 earned run or less) that's just mowed down your team for a few innings and is on the ropes for the first time. Do you know of any pitchers with 9 consecutive quality starts that throw two fastballs in the same place in an at bat? Maybe in an extended at bat with lots of foul balls. And what pitch is better to hit than a fastball down the middle?

Steer did something similar last season in Milwaukee. Brewers leading 3-0 with Megill coming in for the save. He walked Elly on 4 pitches, who immediately stole 2nd. Candelerio then doubled him home on the 2nd pitch. Megill was visibly bothered and Steer took a belt high, grooved fastball. I yelled out "####!!!"(same thing on Saturday) and then told a co-worker who was now peaking in "That pitch might have been their one and only chance to tie it for the rest of this game. Now here comes the splitter and a ground ball to 3rd or short ahead of the runner." It was to Adames at short. Megill was not on his A game and was shaken but Steer was there to do exactly what Megill needed him to do to get through a tough situation

And sorry if my memory of Votto isn't as glorious as yours. I saw a mostly passive hitter that held himself back more than anything else. In 2013, he led the league with a career high in plate appearances with 726. This was his only season with Shin Soo Choo as his leadoff hitter. Choo had a career high OBP and also scored a career high 107 runs. Votto hit .305 but only had 73 RBI. My lasting memory of him is as a career .244 hitter in the post season. 10 for 41, all singles, one RBI on a sac fly. That's the Votto stink. Maybe you saw a leader, all I saw was someone that was usually looking around for someone else to step up. Personally, I don't think that he makes it, but if he does get into the Hall Of Fame, it will be for NOT swinging the bat more than actually swinging it and it sure as Hell won't be for his defense.

Not much of a choice.

Who are they going to get that's available?

What/who are they going to give up for a player that will most likely be only slightly better than what's already here?

Not a lot of sellers and most are asking for too much. It sucks but that's the reality.
