Not gonna get too overly excited since he lit it up last preseason as well, but it’s still nice to see.

I don't think there is any question Burton has #1 or #2 WR athletic ability, the question is the guy a head case and immature with no hope. The good news is he seems to be getting some trust of JB which as we all know has to be earned with being in the right place at the right time.
We will see how he progresses, but he is a piece that was unexpected coming into TC, if he progresses and plays to his athletic ability, this offense that is already very good gets even better.

I think the DL depth should be better too, but my worries are:
1) Will they have enough interior pass rush, as last year was so poor in that department?
2) How much have Jackson and Jenkins developed this offseason compared to where they were in December of last year?
Actually being able to see these guys in TC and preseason should give a better idea of those above things have/will come along.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are the best combination in the NFL.
Burrow holds battle in the middle of the field with his head and eyes allowing Chase's route to develop before delivering a perfectly placed ball. Chase with the tight rope, thr lean to create space and a near perfect one handed cradle catch. It crazy to think these guys could be better this year considering Joe wasn't 100% early last year and Chase missed all of camp.

That and DL about the only two areas I'm overly concerned about going into the season.

That is a really good day for a guy fighting to be our 4th or 5th WR. At a minimum, it is tape Bengals could use to trade him. But, it sure seems like he is growing as a football player. Let's see if he contines to progress and how he does in preseason games.

We know Burton also had 3 TD's today. He had an unbelievable day for a guy trying to solidify a job and win a roster spot.

-Offense was on fire today. Joe slingling TDs all over the place
-Lucas Patrick to the locker room, under his own power, with what looked to be a calf problem
-Geno Stone with a strong PBU but Chase Brown as a receiver is taking that as a learning moment
-Evan McPherson, getting out of his own head, is just thinking about kicking. He was perfect for 3rd day in a row with a long of 52. He has changed his warm up routine to help prevent muscle tightness and injury

I was a bit worried about the description in the first one of him flipping the ball into Tyson's face. I watched it that right there is a click bait description. Tyson was beat like a drum, but grabbed/held on to the ball well after a TD would have been called. he never had a chance to strip it or knock it out of Burton's hands. Tyson was just hanging on due to frustration and getting beat. Burton did flip it at him after, but it wasn't into Tyson's face. It was more of a "If you want it that bad, then here you are", kind of thing. Due to the description i was worried it was some attitude thing by Burton, but no, that interaction was on Tyson IMO.

The DTs had 60 pressures(according to pff) which was 31st in the NFL amongst DTs. So I think your hypothesis will be right about lack of pass rush this season. Unless of an unexpected bump from Jenkins or Jackson.

Yes, good news on Jermaine, very talented WR. Cannot teach his hands or speed and it sounds like coaching might actually be getting to him.

On another note, now we know why Tycen Anderson is a STs ace and sees very few defensive reps.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Lucas Patrick was wearing a sleeve on his right calf in the locker room post practice. He did not speak with media

I was wondering why we didn't give Tycen a shot at FS last year when Geno was playing so bad, guess this is why.
But damn good ST'er for sure.

Perhaps, but that's wasn't the direction i was going. I say every defensive player has a chance to be different in Golden's scheme. Al has a knack for putting players in positions to succeed. Lou had a good scheme, but he had set holes that need specific types of pegs (players) to be successful, especially in the back 7. He needed round pegs for round holes, but he only had round holes. Al's scheme has the flexibility to find a square hole for a square peg, and not try to shove it into a round hole.
Or at least that's the way i see it.
