Bengals to host Dalton Risner on a FA visit
(Yesterday, 10:40 AM)Essex Johnson Wrote: myself i rate Brooks as ok in preseason, too much dancing in the hole and only a 3.4 ypc, and  ok pass blocking.  Stewart has been average , had a decent 1st game, 2nd game hard to read since most of the big runs were away from him and only played those quick first two series i believe.  You never know if your going to still get a player trading back especially how far and what you might have to give up, Knight was on their board best to take him then, i think he will be fine once he gets more accustomed to the NFL and the schemes.

I thought Brooks would show more power when hit and move defender backwards a yard or 2. I have not seen that happen which is disappointing. There will be a lot of good running backs available after cut down in my opinion. A ton of RB's were drafted so vets will be cut. I would not be opposed to at a minimum signing one for our PS.

On to 2025, let's save the drama for the off season.

At this point, you have to wonder why he's not signed. On the surface, he looks like a proven vet who could be a cheap upgrade. But for some reason, the Bengals are 1 of 32 teams that haven't signed this guy, and it appears he's trying to get on somewhere

I’m also not sure if he even saw the Seahawks.

FWIW, I spoke to my co-worker who is a huge Vikings fan and really smart when it comes to sports. He said that risner is a hard worker, but not that good. Seems like he would likely not elevate our starting 5 that much over Patrick. That said, it would tremendously help with depth and positional flexibility behind the starting 5.

If the line is a (I’m making it up) 7.2 today, it might be a 7.4 with Risner.

I would still like to see him brought in as it would be a net positive to the OL room, but I’m not sure it would raise the bar of the starting 5 all that much.

This could be where there is a difference in value based on what the league thinks, and what Risner thinks.

It might not mean a thing to anyone on here, but interesting.
