Andy Dalton said there is a fracture in his thumb
#1
On the Bengals post game radio Dalton said "I injured my thumb and there's a fracture in there" but he is not sure of the severity of the injury. He will be visiting a hand specialist and he has no idea of the time frame he will be gone..........

And that's the season. He'll be on IR before the week is out if there is a fracture.

Feels like 2005 all over again. A dominate team that has bad luck at the end of the season. Hope McCarron is a better backup than Jon Kitna come playoff time.

A fracture is better than torn ligaments. It will heal faster. Don't put him on IR. He could realistically be back for the playoffs.

Nothing can be done about it now, at least it wasn't a knee or elbow.

a fracture is also better than a complete break...its all going to depend on precisely where and how deep the fracture goes. But its his throwing hand so whatever the injury he has to be able to grip the ball

Assuming we can limp into them...

People underestimate just how significant any thumb injury on a QB's throwing hand is. Even if Dalton, the player, is out there...he won't be close to what he can be. Anyone who has injured a thumb before can relate.

Never seen them this blunt about an injury.

I wanna believe that we'll make a run, but it's hard to believe we do without Dalton.

Why would we have to limp? McCarron still threw 2 nice TDs against the steelers. The Bal and SF games are still very winnable. 12-4 with Dalton coming back for the playoffs? I will still take that.

As long as we make the playoffs and Dalton is 100% healthy, I think we can beat the wildcard team in the 1st round. It sucks that it went from AFC champions to this but it is what it is.

This. A thumb injury on the throwing hand can be horrible. Hopefully he'll be back by the playoffs. Who knows if we lose out we might luck into playing the Colts  LMAO

I agree the team will make the playoffs, but I don't see how Dalton could possibly come back in three weeks.  He has a fracture in the thumb of his throwing hand...

If Ryan Fitzpatrick can come back from it, why cant Dalton? We don't know how bad it is...could be a simple hairline crack that needs 2-3 weeks.

Google says 3-6 weeks.  I guess we hope that the healing process goes as smooth as possible.

Odds are pretty good we still pin down the #3 seed. Need to work on run blocking with McCarron tossing a deep ball every now and again. He's got a decent throw, but we have to limit the perimeter throws as he doesn't have the gun to get it out there.
To each his own... unless you belong to a political party...

Fitzpatrick's wasn't on his throwing hand for one.
