Coronavirus Information...who do you trust?

Yet Covid is the number one killer of police right now.

Quote:It's another heartbreaking statistic that we've seen come out of this pandemic.

More officers died from COVID-19 than they did from any other cause, both this year and last year.

That’s what data is showing from the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fundwhich spoke out this week about the findings. The Officer Down Memorial Page is also tracking the numbers of line of duty deaths, which are updated on its website in real time.

So far in 2021, the organization has confirmed 255 line of duty deaths among law enforcement.

This graph below shows the break down. The top cause is COVID-19, with 144 deaths – which they consider line of duty deaths.

Other causes include gunfire (39), traffic incidents and other medical reasons to follow.
[Image: 2021-COVID-GRAPH.jpg?quality=85&strip=al...all&w=1024]
The 2020 data tells us even more. Last year, the memorial page recorded 371 line of duty deaths, a 146 percent increase from the year before.

The top cause was also COVID-19, with 242 deaths.

In overall deaths, Texas ranks the highest on the list with 87 total deaths last year.

The memorial page built a special site honoring those lives lost specifically to COVID-19, with countless photos putting a face to the numbers.

Of course, infection can happen both in and out of the uniform.

Local police departments have had to launch new safety protocols for their force in the past year. Many are following local CDC and state guidelines.

In some departments, officers are asked to put on a mask in close proximity to others. Departments like Dallas, fort worth and Arlington have urged their own to get vaccinated.

The Fort Worth police and fire headquarters even has a vaccine clinic on site.

Some departments are also providing PPE and testing, and continue to hold some internal meetings virtually.

Jennifer Gabbert, Chief Deputy and PIO of Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, said 2020 was probably the most challenging year in recent memory for law enforcement across the nation.

"We continue to follow health guidelines, but recognize it is an ever changing target to keep up as COVID continues be a challenge," she said.

TCSO lost three Detention Officers to COVID-19: Corporal Charles Holt, Lieutenant Craig King and Security Control Specialist Jerry Jones.

"We are honored that all three Tarrant County Detention Officers who lost their lives last year will be recognized in Washington, DC this year during Police Week, Oct. 11th-17th and their names will be added to the Law Enforcement National Memorial for giving their lives in service to their county," said Gabbert.

The National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund clarified the data they are compiling is fluid, as it's an intense process confirming line of duty deaths.

Just promise us you won't take a horse de-worming medication unless your doctor also recommends it.

And if he does, please get a second opinion.

When I had COVID last February my doctor prescribed an IV of monoclonal antibodies along with a steroid and a Z-pack. This treatment worked amazingly well.

That's medically backed treatment prescribed by a doctor prior to the creation of a free preventative vaccine.  I think he's talking about people who refuse to trust medical opinion and big pharma when it comes to said vaccine but instead want expensive treatments and livestock anti parasite paste against doctors orders because that is viewed as "the republican way" to deal with covid.

Nately nailed it. It was a tongue in cheek cheap shot at idiots.

Not to say I'm calling anyone here an idiot, of course. Unless you're doing idiotic shit like taking horse de-wormer.

Did they try turning off their body cams? That seems to help them beat everything else.

In my case I have a medical history which contraindicates receiving the vaccine. Specifically, I have had heart surgery more than once and the flu vaccine caused anaphylaxis in the past. So, when I did contract COVID, my doctor prescribed monoclonal antibody treatment along with dexamethasone and a Z-Pack.

If I could take the vaccine I would. I have no moral or ethical objections to receiving it.

I wasn't alking about you, im talking about the people who could get the vaccine but don't trust doctors so they'll just get covid and spend weeks in the hospital with those murderous evil doctors.

Though I've heard unvaccinated people say doctors are specifically killing the unvaccinated. Stuff is wacky.

I get it man. Buddy of mine was advised not to get it for long standing diabetic reasons (I didn't ask too many questions about it).

As I said before - I will not fault anyone whose doctor tells them not to get vaccinated so long as the doctor has a legitimate reason for opting them away from it (i.e: their doctor isn't a whacko anti-vaxxer, and not just anti covid-vaxxer).

Exactly the reason everyone who can get it should get it...to help protect those who cannot for legitimate reasons.

My uncle, who's had a myriad of health problems the past few years went to the hospital on Monday. From what I understand those problems were the reason he went, but he also tested positive for the virus, and had fluid in his lungs. He'd been on a bipap for days, was placed on a ventilator last night, and was removed from it a lil bit ago... My cousins were told to come to the hospital. He's fully vaccinated. I'm all for vaccination, but it's starting to seem less foolproof to me as of late.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

Very sorry.  It seem we're getting to where almost all of us know someone who passed from this.

Unfortunately those with health issues are the most at risk.  That's why it's best to get everyone vaccinated to try and limit the passing of the virus. and limit these breakthrough cases.

Brother and his wife lost a friend this past weekend. He was not vaccinated. Went to the hospital and got put onto a ventilator immediately. In 2 hours, he was gone. He was 60 and it's a shame because it just seems preventable. Left his wife, kids, and grandkids. I really don't understand why people risk it. In other news, Pfizer's booster puts you back to over 95 percent protected.

My sister tells me she's got 3 or 4 friends on Facebook with a GoFundMe to cover medical and funeral costs for some recent Covid deaths.

She can't muster enough of a shit to even leave a kind word. Firm believer in '**** around and find out', that one.

If the people tasked with enforcing the masks won't wear masks it's gonna be an even tougher row to hoe...

https://abc7ny.com/subway-masks-covid-nypd-greenwich-village/11147904/

Quote:NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said two officers have been disciplined after a viral video showed them ejecting a rider from a subway station who purportedly hassled them over not wearing masks.

Shea called the officers' actions "absolutely inexcusable," though he added they would not be fired or suspended.

"There is no excuse for what I saw in that video," he said. "We are better than that."

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday at the 8th Street station in Greenwich Village.

The video shows the maskless officers escorting the rider, identified as Andrew Gilbert, from the station, and you can hear the officer telling the commuter he is being disruptive.

"I've been the first to defend officers, I think many of you know that," Shea said. "I'm also the first to call out wrong when it's wrong...I think the public deserves better than that."

Gilbert sent a statement to Eyewitness News telling his account of the events.

"I was just commuting to work, and when I got off the train, I noticed these two officers standing there on the platform with no masks, as is fairly typical these days for the NYPD," he said. "I've taken to filming them whenever I see them doing this in the subway, so I walked over and asked them why they weren't masked. The male officer kept pretending he couldn't hear what I was saying. He told me, 'I can't hear you through your mask,' etc. After a few seconds, another women noticed this and came over and started recording as well. She's the one who posted the video to Twitter that went viral. I kept asking them to follow the law and put a mask on, and the officer declared that I was being 'disruptive' and grabbed me and shoved me 60 feet over to the emergency exit and slammed me through it. He yelled at me, 'If you're not going to ride the train, you can leave.'"

The NYPD has not released details of what precipitated the incident, but the woman who shot the video told Eyewitness News the male officer mocked Gilbert even though she did not believe he was being aggressive or provocative in addressing the officers.

Acting MTA Chairman and CEO Janno Lieber blasted the officers and said it is past time for "more than a few cops" to start complying with mask rules underground.

"We have obviously more than a few cops that are not complying," he said. "Come on. Set an example. You are the people who are responsible for getting everyone to comply with mask wearing and with all the behavior and rules we apply to the public spaces. Come on. It's enough already."

The NYPD said the incident remains under internal review.

"I was troubled by that video," Mayor Bill de Blasio said. "I did not like what I saw one bit. I didn't see everything, except for the clip at the time when the person was being removed. I saw the officers not wearing their masks in the subway. That's evident. That's unacceptable. We've given this instruction 1,000 times. If you are going to be in law enforcement, you actually have to participate in following the law."

Gilbert said he doesn't expect the officers to face serious consequences.

"I sincerely hope that the two officers who assaulted me are punished as severely as the law allows, but I have no doubt that this isn't going to happen," he said. "When these officers are quietly given a slap on the wrist, it will send a message to all of the other corrupt cops out there that there are no consequences for breaking the law and abusing the public."

Got my booster (Moderna half dose) today.

Walked in without an appointment.  Took about 15 minutes to do the paperwork.

Coincidentally it was nine months to the day since my first shot.

I was one of the lucky people to have flu like reactions to the first two so I'm hoping for just mild reactions this time.

Wait....we can do both at the same time? I want both because my asthma has gotten worse the past two years and I have to be careful.

I certainly did. CVS let me schedule it. Moderna and the flu shot in the same arm, same day.
