Dolphins wanted Burrow really, really bad…

Stephon Ross was in love with Burrow very early in the year. I have heard that from a couple people in the league.
I "heard" it was always Tua until Burrow's run began to be noticed. There was never a "tank for Burrow". Then Burrow was his top choice. Burrow really wasn't on many peoples radar until November (after he beat Bama). Remember he was considered a 4th-6th round pick.

If Ross's eye for talent was good enough to spot Burrow as the top pick early, he wouldn't be in this position (as he would have drafted Herbert of Tua).

(this is coming from a lifelong OSU homer, btw)

I think Burrow would have balled out under Ryan Day and Urban telling Joe that Haskins had a slight edge heading into fall camp in 2018 shows the influence Ryan Day was already having on Meyers thought process cuz the unathletic Haskins did not have the type of skill set Meyer had usually preferred.

Im glad everything happened exactly how it did regardless cuz of where we've ended up obviously.
Being a Bengals fan is like being in love with a narcissist.  It's a brutal, emotionally abusive relationship but I never leave and just keep making excuses for them.

But had a better record then all of them which is what stung him. He really did a remarkable job, and it's hard to imagine any other coach getting fired for that. But his point about black coaches getting fired after winning seasons does have some merit given the examples out there. From Lovie and co already mentioned to even Arizona's old 1 and done coach.

Steve Wilks from Arizona went 3-13 and Rosen showed no meaningful progress under him. That one was warranted imo

White Coaches have gotten fired after winning seasons too....

So it doesnt hold much water at all.  if hes claiming he was fired cause he was black.   It seems like he has a lot to learn about dealing with other people.

I can't remember the details of progress, but it did at the time seem like a shock he didn't get canned after 1 season.

Many players desire to coach for their post-playing careers. Others desire to work their way into management-level positions at one of the NFL’s 32 Teams. Unfortunately, for Black individuals, that is easier said than done.

 Only 1 of the NFL’s 32 teams (3%) employs a Black Head
Coach;
 Only 4 of the NFL’s 32 teams (12%) employ a Black
Offensive Coordinator;
 Only 11 of the NFL’s 32 teams (34%) employ a Black
Defensive Coordinator;

 Only 8 of the NFL’s 32 teams (25%) employ a Black
Special Teams Coordinator;
 Only 3 of the NFL’s 32 teams (9%) employ a Black
Quarterback Coach; and
 Only 6 of the NFL’s 32 teams (19%) employ a Black
General Manager.

According to the 2020 census 13% of the US population was African American. Outside of Head Coach they seem well represented; however, they were at 9% last year and there's a good chance they'll be there or higher again this year. What percentage would you deem acceptable?

The percentage of NFL players who are of color should have 0 bearing; as we see time and again it being a good player does not correlate to coaching success.

If anyone allows color to motivate them to hire a lesser candidate they most likely won't be very successful.

1. We're in the Super Bowl, and this should be a happy time. Not politics time.

2. Don't feel it belongs in PnR due to the Bengals related premise.
