Listening to sportcasters right now is hilarious
#41
I'm happy the Olympics started and I have a good distractions so I don't have to get sucked into the media circus for the next week. I'm excited about the Bengals, and watching highlights and reliving some of the awesome experiences from the season, but I don't really care to listen to all of the talk about the Rams' D line vs our O line. I certainly do understand where people would focus on that matchup, I just want to listen to it.

Football news during Super Bowl week gets boring.  There are only so many things that can be said about the game and matchups.  But they refuse to talk about anything other than the Super Bowl.

It reminds me of when that plane went down a few years ago and was never found.  For WEEKS every morning when I turned on the news that were talking about how there was no news on the missing plane.  They would spend half of the entire show talking about how they did not know what happened.

It's actually kinda funny as they are WAY overselling the Rams, who barely got by SF courtesy of the 49ers dropping a 4th quarter INT right on the defenders hands. Then again, some of these same analysts oversold the Chiefs and the Titans too.

The reality is this game will likely be tight, really tight. The Bengals will hang right with the Rams and the key could easily be our D getting to Stafford, who may be great against the blitz but if you get real pressure on him he is not that good at all.

Just what we want. They ain't the type for listenin' and they sure ain't never going to learn.

So, the next question is,what else do the Bengals have to do to be a legitimate contender in the eyes of the Sportscasters??? They done already beat the hottest team in the NFL back in week 17,after the Chiefs had won 8 straight games. With this win,the Bengals clinched the AFC North title, and advanced to the playoffs. Then took on the Raiders who had won 4 straight games, and won. This win earned them the privalige to advance and take on the AFC #1 seed Titans, after Titans bye week and they had home field advantage.Titans announced days in advance that Derrick Henry would be returning 100% unrestricted.Did not matter,Bengals beat them anyways. Now the Bengals advance to take on the #2 seed in the AFC,the Kansas City Chiefs, after the Bengals had beaten the #1 seed Tennessee Titans.

The Chiefs had just come off a very dramatic OT win against the Buffalo Bills, which had the AFC #1 defense, and put up 42 points.Bengals win and advance to SB.Maybe it will take a victory against the Rams in the Super Bowl to finally get the respect.

If the media wants your team to be relevant (due to fanbase size), they will make your team relevant even when they suck. See the Lakers the last 2 years and the Jets for the last decade. The Cowboys most years. The awful Knicks.

If they want your team to be irrelevant, they will try their hardest to make them irrelevant. Even in the face of overwhelming success. Unless we become a dynasty and have little Joe Burrow fanboys littered across the country, the media will fight us every step of the way.

Imagine if the Jets were in the Super Bowl rn, and how different the vibe would be.

Is that true? I am reading conflicting things online. Some are reporting that there two home locker rooms at the stadium and the Bengals will use the Chargers locker room and the Rams will keep their usual locker room.

Why do you honestly care what pundits say? This feels like the "Why wont everyone love us??!!" complex Ravens fans have, to the point where they label Lamar doubters racist

Unless that market is Miami, Houston or Atlanta, apparently.

That's why I said "fanbase size"...not market size.

Dolphins, Falcons and Texans aren't big fanbases compared to Lakers, Jets, Cowboys, etc.

The Bengals beat the #1, #2, #5 seeds. Has any other Super bowl run beaten those high of seeds? (Rams beat #5, #2, #6)

This just is not true at all.  When underdogs become winners the media loves them.

And the national media is already giving the Bengals a lot of love just because of Burrow.

Sportsbooks make us a 4 point underdog.  I think that is very reasonable.

It looked for a long time like the NFC had 4-6 ELITE teams while the AFC had KC and a bunch of mediocre teams. The 2nd half of the season and the playoffs really showed that the NFC wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Rams went 5-4 over their last 9 games of the season. Cardinals tanked hard and didn’t even look like they deserved to be in the playoffs by the time the season ended. Cowboys we’re very hot and cold and choked again. 49ers had Garoppolo at QB. Eagles were right there with the Steelers for worst team in the playoffs, neither scared anybody and both make a good argument for the old 6 team playoff format.

For a long time it seemed like a forgone conclusion the NFC would have an easy path to another SB victory. After watching the way things ended, I’d say the Chiefs were more impressive than any of the NFC teams by the time the playoffs rolled around and we beat them twice. I’d also say the division winners in the AFC were playing as well if not better than the division winners in the NFC by the time the playoffs started.

I feel very good about our chances next weekend. I also love the disrespect, makes the victory that much more enjoyable!

I don't mean to sound overconfident, but they seem to have done what the Bucs did last year, which was turn it on right at the end of the season.

They have some really good pieces, but they are not unbeatable.  It isn't a good match up for the Bengals where their strength is our weakness, but with two weeks to scheme it up, I  have faith in our coaches (did I just type that?  Yes, I did...they deserve it).

I think the AFC was MUCH tougher, with the Bills, Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Titans, and Colts.

I can't wait.  This is crazy fun and I have a good feeling that Burrow is going to finish the job with a victory.

They may have went 5-4 in their last 9, but they also went 5-1 in their last 6 games of the season. They are coming in hot, just as the Bengals are.

Not sure about the Chargers having a seperate home locker room. But I did hear the Rams will have they're locker room. Us being the "home team" only gets us thd chance to pick which uniform we want and have them choose on the coin toss.

Yeah they went on a streak at the end against non-playoff teams. The point of the above post was the entire NFC was overrated based on early season success of the conference. Once the whole season played out the NFC showed that it’s not nearly as good as it looked early in the year or as people still seem to give it credit for.

Rams are a good team but anyone acting like the Bengals don’t stand a chance are mistaken.

If you compare the 4 division winners in each conference I’d take the 4 AFC winners over the 4 NFC winners. 3 months ago people would have laughed at that. Now, anyone willing to take a serious look at the teams and how they’re playing would have to at least admit it’s close.

If we look at the Rams playoff path to the SB vs the Bengals I’d say the Bengals was harder as well. 3 months ago anyone saying the raiders would be a tougher out than the Cards would be laughed at. Now I don’t think anyone would give much argument to say the Cards were better than LV by this he time the playoffs rolled around. Titans/Chiefs greater than 49ers/Bucs.

Rams are a #4 seed.

Not considered a favorite in the NFC coming into the playoffs.

I’d say the Bengals path was harder as well. Going to Arrowhead has to be the toughest assignment in the league. The Rams probably played in the best division in football though. The NFC West has had a Super Bowl appearance in 3 of the last 4 years.

They still aren’t getting the respect they deserve. That’s after beating the 2nd best team in the AFC twice in one month. All I hear is OL this OL that. I hope the Bengals front comes out and dominates and the Bengals are hoisting that trophy. It’ll make for one great offseason.

I was just listening to Cris Collinsworth on WFAN 660 out of New York. He was on to comment about the upcoming Super Bowl.

One of this comments was the fact that his broadcast team never got to do a Bengals game this season. He said they were all set to do one. All the Bengals had to do was win the Jets game and they would have been flexed to a game his team was doing. (I guess to a Sunday night.) They never expected the Bengals to lose and so were beginning to do some prep.

He said the Bengals to a lot of the sports world are an unknown entity, because they had so few primetime games.

SOFI has 4 locker rooms. The Rams and Chargers each have their own locker rooms. There are 2 visitor locker rooms, that can be arranged into 4 visitor locker rooms for events like the Final 4. We will most likely get one of the Visitor locker rooms, because the Rams and Chargers aren't going to want their stuff messed with. But if we get a home locker room, it will be the Chargers'
