The first patriot TD, where they came to the line and nobody on the steelers went out to cover gronkowski?

5 catches in 1 half is kept in check? That's a pace of a 160 catch season. 62.5 yards a half is a pace for a 2,000 yard season and he had around that going into halftime.

160 catches and 2,000 yards is quite the "kept in check" season for a reciever.....

Brown is going to get catches because the offense is built around a lot of pick plays to get him separation. However only two of his 5 catches resulted in 1st downs, and only one of the five went for over 10 yards.

So anytime with a strong passing attack can just throw 50 times and thrash the Steelers defense.

The only good news is that run defense as teams won't be able to run the ball and use clock in the 4th quarter to protect leads. The bad news is the Steelers won't be able to prevent comebacks when team throw in the 4th quarter to catch up.

All in all, the Steelers looked like an 8-8 team and not a Super Bowl contender.
The defense struggled to stop teams in the 4th quarter last years because after 3 quarters of getting gashed in the run game, play action was wide open. It wasn't the dink and dunk that hurt the Steelers. Only a few of the top offenses can manage to beat the Steelers with a dink and dunk offense because the Steelers offense tends to dominate time of possession and can score big. Most offenses can't sustain multiple 10+ play drives a game and cash in for touchdowns - the Pats are one of the few that can. The Steelers D can bend but not break against dink and dunk while the Steeler offense racks up points. That's enough to beat most teams.

The Pats only ran 56 plays total - discounting 2 kneels - and lost the TOP. Brady's offense is one of 3, maybe 4, that can do that against the Steelers and still win. Most teams will be lucky to run 50 plays against the steelers defense, let alone 50 passes.

Well, if defenses want to play off, then the Ben will take those easy gains all day. It keeps the offense moving and Brown is always a threat to break tackles for even bigger gains. Picking up a basically uncontested 7 yards on 1st and 10 is a win every time. It doesn't matter what the offense is based around, 5 catches and 64 yards to a receiver in 1 half is not keeping the guy in check.

Out of his 9 catches and 133 yards, 2 catches and 24 yards came in the 4th quarter. LOL Too bad I didn't look that up before I responded to rfualk because that 1 liner is all I needed to say to laugh him off.

Pick plays are typically designed to help a guy beat tight coverage, and designed to get one specific player the ball. Brown is great at them because he is a great yac WR, but you can't discount that they are designed plays to get the ball into his hands. Because the Steelers run them so much, You're not just going to shut Brown down. The goal is to limit big plays and yac yardage, which the Pats did a fair job of. Taking into account the sack he took, you're looking at 56 yards on 6 touches, which is not that great for a WR, and doesn't take into account incomplete passes thrown his way.

"taking his sack into account" lol GTFO. This maybe be the most ridiculous attempt to marginalize a player's performance (a performance that was a 160 catch 2,000 yard season pace) I have ever seen.

And it's really not pick plays we use to get Brown the ball in space. It's the long handoffs we throw right at the LOS when the corner is playing off. Most of our pick routes are to Wheaton or Bell in the slot.

Yeah. We know how your "on pace"'s work. Not very well.

Brown had no real impact on the game at all.

Right. Let's see how that works out...

About 50 plays is what an offense can run with 27 minutes of possession. The Steelers defense averaged 54 snaps a game last year with the opposing team's t.o.p. at 27:35.
