Pedophile Christian Pastors Caught in Child Sex Sting
(05-27-2016, 11:48 AM)BmorePat87 Wrote: That's right. You threw a fit because the term racism reflects the sociological definition of "race", not the biological definition, and includes discrimination towards other "ethnicities". I remember.

Yep. Sure does look like I was the one "throwing a fit". Seems like I'm still hung up on it.

Ethnicities is just another word for idealology. But it sounds must worse if you call someone a racist.

As such, expecting to find churches full of piously devout and sinless angels is like expecting to find only healthy people in a hospital.

I didn't come for a theology lesson (besides the fact I know the ins and outs of the Bible and the Church better than most Christians) - I asked a question. One you acknowledged but didn't answer.
Our father, who art in Hell
Unhallowed, be thy name
Cursed be thy sons and daughters
Of our nemesis who are to blame
Thy kingdom come, Nema
If we don't segregate christians to their own small physical area, me and a bunch of my toothless buddies are just going to have to the Congo to preserve our race of non-pedophiles. I've been looking into it.

You are ok with socially conservative members of the boards being bigoted because they agree with you on a lot of other issues. They're your only allies on a number of topics, so you can't call them out for being awful people.

You are not ok with socially liberal members of the boards being immature in their mocking of bigotry because you disagree with them on so many issues, so you try to get on a high horse when they twist arguments around despite the fact that ever back and forth turns into you being disingenuous and catty in your responses

If you say so. However, this particiular instance was about folks folks mocking religion, by associating two criminals with it. I will speak out against those who mock religion every time; as my personal belief is that that sacrilege is the one unpardonable sin.

If other Christians are comfortable observing such actions; that is on them and their relationship with Christ. Mine tells me to speak up in hopes that someone may see the error of their ways before it is too late.

As to always agreeing. you may want to check out Lucies' bullying thread or Matt's Trump (most recent) thread. I actually have zero idea with Board Memeber you think I am falling to "call out" in this or any other thread.

You asked no question in the post I quoted. You stated a curiosity towards a possible outcome, but asked no question.

Full disclosure:  Raised Catholic.  Went to Catholic school from 1-12 and then to a Catholic Liberal Arts College.  I never EVER saw or heard of a priest or religious doing ANYTHING even remotely close to sexual with a child.

That said...

I know of priests who had "sons" they took care of.  We have a close family friend who was born of one of these relationships between a priest and his "maid".

No one is perfect.  Take any slice of society and you'll find horrible people and good people.

That said...

To me this falls under "They doth protest too much".  Like when the GOP runs as the "Family Values" party and then their leaders get caught cheating on their wives.  Or when the staunchly anti-gay official is found out to be hiring gay escorts.

Don't pretend to be holier, purer, better, whatever when you are not.

I'll use myself as an example.  It is no secret that I did not have sex until I was married at the age of 26.  But I don't hold that over anyone who chose a different path because I know I wasn't "pure" either.

So back to the topic of the thread:  The church (all of them) have had problems with officials that use their positions to satisfy their carnal needs.  And they have covered up for them for so long that they NEED to be taken to task when someone is caught.  Again.

Can that outrage go overboard?  Of course.  It's 2016.  There is always going to be a segment of society that gets outraged more than everyone else does about some issue.

But a lot of that has been brought on by the aforementioned past behavior of hiding and denying while telling others how to live their lives the "right" way.

Just my opinion.

Looks much worse when you defend someone who is a racist.

Maybe we should find the first post in this thread that began to make light of religion...

There was no mocking religion in that post; it was mocking those that state identity trumps the physical.

So you found no mocking or "making light" of religion in posts 1-7?

What was that pro-bono critique you were giving me about I will defend those that share our views and strike out at those who do not?

Would that just be mocking the falsely religious?

Ok, so you're the second person (after Dino, I guess I missed the part of his post that wasn't the copypasta from the article. I can admit when I am wrong) to make light of religion.

Props to posters 2-7 for trying to take thread seriously.

Every religion? Mellow Sure every religion; unfortunately every religion is bastardized by a minority of believers

Nobody made me an expert; simply a messenger.

You're welcome and no one can say for certain who (religion) is "right' and who is "wrong". It is my hope that if one truely believes in God, that he or she will have a chance to enter the kingdom of heaven.

It is more my belief they will either simply cease to exist or go to the "Paradise" side of Hades if it exists. I think the same fate awaits those that are agnostic or atheists. However, those who openly mock God and his relgion may have to spend some time elsewhere.

As to bastardizing religion: I see it all the time (at least according to my beliefs). When I see a Christian playing with a snake or an Islam killing a girl because she is trying to go to school; I consider that bastardization.

The one(s) that believes in God and I started the sentence with "my belief".
