And I think the fact that over half of the population (60%) only owns 2.5% of stock while the top 5% of the populations owns more than 66% has something to do with the countries aversion to "corporate greed".

I haven't seen recent numbers, but less than a decade ago, 10% of the population owned 80% of stocks, and the top 5% owned 75%. The bottom 60% of the population owned 3% of stocks. Those mutual funds by the bottom 90%, the majority were less than $10k.

But, yeah, obviously mom and pop are benefiting with their 3% like Scrooge McDuck and his 75%. Obviously.

Well, 15% alone is pensions and govt retirement funds - that IS mom & pop.  To say nothing of 401K money and other savings invested in the markets.

I'm guessing your number didn't include indirect ownership of stocks.  Roughly 50% of Americans have some form of stock ownership, directly or indirectly.  But go on buying into your misguided facts because it allows you to believe what you want and post funny but ignorant memes.

We all know this.  But the term "mom & pop" is just meaningless rhetoric when we are talking about Mom and Pop Rockefeller and the like.

The fact is that an overwhelming proportion of stock ownership (over 2/3rds) is held by just 5% of the Mom's and Pop's.

If someone tells me as much as 60% of the population owns some stock I would never accusing him of lying because "actually as much as FIFTY PERCENT of the population owns some stock".

It says 55% of Americans (not the wealthiest, just American) own stock directly or indirectly.
