If it is a Democrat, then just the mere allegation of wrong-doing in the past is sufficient convict, despite the fact that the incident was investigated and found to be false already.

If it is a Republican, however, all allegations are false regardless of how much evidence is presented. And if you are investigating, you better hurry it up! We don't have time for this! What, you aren't done already!

It's not really a double standard. It's more like not having any standard at all, morally or otherwise.

It's not really a double standard. It's more like not having any standard at all, morally or otherwise.

It's the surprising minority mentality. Surprising because (roughly) 30% identify as Dems and 25% identify as Republicans (which leaves the rest of us who wish that 55% would stop screwing things up for the nearly other half).

It's easier to see in areas where there's a much larger Dem-Rep ratio, where Republicans have the mindset of "well, we're outnumbered so win by any means necessary." Which, politically speaking, makes sense. The problem is, Republicans aren't a minority in a lot of places any more and even where they are, they've gerrymandered their way into policy making positions. So an 'ends justify the means' approach creates a lot of friction. Sort of like Andre the Giant fighting Rey Mysterio and poking the luchador in the eye. You're already winning, why be a **** about it?
