Yeah, but then they made the book into a film.  Seems to be a documentary.

True.  People who are Christians and actually listen to Jesus being all like "Yeah, don't be a d-bag like that old testament says" and I are on the same page...but that hain't for everyone.

I'll leave it at this: christianity doesn't advocate any killing. People kill in the name of it but they aren't exactly getting the message.

While I agree in general the "go ahead and kill them if they won't convert" orders came from pretty high up.  

So it comes down (to me) to semantics.  Actual Christianity has espouse by Jesus Christ does not advocate killing.  Christianity as ran by us mere mortals has found ways to say some killing is acceptable.

Even if that were true it hold no bearing on the Christian leaders saying that killing is okay (even in self defense) despite what Christianity (the religion) says.

Just like any religion the people bend the rules to meet their beliefs even if it goes against the teaching of the religion.  And in many cases it comes from the leaders.

I'm an atheist, so I don't care what the bible says. I think the leaders in christianity knew that Muslim forces have already raped and pillaged the western part of Europe (up from Africa) all the way to France and they had to rally their forces and retaliate.
